NO F***ING WAY WILL THIS THREAD EVER BE LOCKED!Mutant wrote: I beg you... lock this thread already...
I plan to post right here until the end of my days. Nobody's gonna spoil that! I mean, I want a great amp sim!

FTR midiworks/sound spectral site (in his sig, just check the first post of this thread) is dead. As for locking it, I get Sascha's point as this thread started in July of 04 making it almost an institution and is full of funny moments...but if it were locked, oh well

You can still read a locked thread, you just can't use it to post dumb sarcastic pseudo-humor that belongs in the off topic subforum.
We have that "this plugin" or whatever is its title thread left here by moderators for this purpose and we don't need the full first page to be filled with such nonsense.

So you do oppose to people posting in a public forum.Mutant wrote:You can still read a locked thread, you just can't use it to post dumb sarcastic pseudo-humor that belongs in the off topic subforum.
If you just hadn't bumped this thread again, it would've been dormant for another half-year or so. I can haz high gainz elsewhere
In 2004/2005 there was not really an ampsim that could do high gain decently. Now they are a dime a dozen.
Did anyone really get a chance to use this plugin personally and actually have a beta copy or whatever it was at the time?
I still think this was the biggest audio hoax, if no one had the actual plugin to try. I am thinking it was a real high gain preamp or tube amp out into some cabinet modeling or eq filtering.

Yes, there's been actual betas.
And well, as far as this plugin vs. "this plugin" goes: This one is for real and older. Ok, it never truly materialized, which makes it quite similar to "this plugin"...

if you look through this thread you will see Rene saying something like "the people who deserve it have it" (if you go through this whole thread you have a very sad life
). I dont think it was a hoax as much as making promises he could not keep, his entry in the dev challenge was pretty good...the drum positioning thing. The super comp never happened, the acoustic guitar thing never happened, the few vocal things he made some people liked but sometimes they were there and sometimes they weren't (they were also very similar looks wise to the original AVOX which might explain a lot).
I do hope Rene is okay because he was quite likable
