25 pages...i wonder if it's been said....it looks like with this loop browser thing, loops ship with t3. if that's true, i can't just say "no, i use tracktion" when ppl ask me if i use a song generator

Yeah, but loops are just a small part of a MUCH larger application. You don't HAVE to use loops with it, do you?
Sorry, I can't tell if you're speaking toungue in cheek or not. Disregard if you are.

Beno, if you're still around, I think my question got lost in argument. Looks like others are calling it "per-track freeze", and it's the number #1 request of 3 other people I know who own T2 (and are too busy making music to whine here like meloopdloop wrote:Beno - Has there been any work done to the freeze function?
I only wish it would create and track an individual frozen temporary wave for each track (folder?) that's frozen instead of using one for all. The additional hard drive space requirement is really nearly irrelevant now, even on laptops.
It's only a small change, but it would greatly increase the power of that function, letting even crappy old machines work on studio level projects.
(And of course the "Freeze track up until this filter" function someone mentioned would be incredible!)
It would basically just be a macro that renders a track, then mutes & hides the original (with all its filters & settings) until it's unfrozen. This would be incredibly powerful when used along with folder tracks.

We definitely want to improve freeze and have a lot of cool ideas to do so, but for T3.0, there won't be much of a change. Only so much time.

Thanks for the reply, and all the other news!
Looking at the screenshots, it seems folder tacks might offer a good workaround to freeze, if routing & rendering inside folders is allowed. For instance:
Tracks 2,3 & 4 output to 5. I want to render it to 6, then mute 2,3,4 & 5. Then I can close the whole thing at track 1 (ta-da! frozen track). If I want to make changes, I open the folder, delete the rendered clip, unmute 2,3,4 & 5, and make changes.
Is this how it works? If so, I think I'll live.... however, the option to "Mute rendered tracks" during render (instead of "Delete rendered tracks") would be super nice!
Obviously it gets even better with nesting ability. How many levels are possible?

Code: Select all
TRACK 1: Guitars Folder
TRACK 2: Guit 1 (routed to TRACK 5)
TRACK 3: Guit 2 (routed to TRACK 5)
TRACK 4: Guit 3 (routed to TRACK 5)
TRACK 5: Guitar Routing (with CPU heavy VSTs)

I imagine that is how it will work since what you are describing is pretty much exactly the reason why so many people wanted folder tracks.

thank you very much.. now that wasnt so hard was it? hahah ..seriuosly, good to get answer tho.;.Beno wrote:OK, here is the word on first note bug. We haven't yet tried to fix it. We are still finishing up some last minute new features raised in this thread (hint hint). At some time before release, we will spend look at the first note bug. There are no guarantees on if it can/will be fixed in the allotted time but we will definitely do what we can.

Multi core support?Beno wrote:We definitely want to improve freeze and have a lot of cool ideas to do so, but for T3.0, there won't be much of a change. Only so much time.

Quad core support would be cool as that is what I have in my system. I know it's kind of high end but both Intel and AMD have plans for more than 2 cores on 1 dye within the next year and a half or so. I think that if you were adding dual core support now that you could just as easily impliment quad core support and have it be future proof for the next 2 years or so...
I would be happy with dual core support if that's what we get. Quad core would just be the icing on the cake.

thats got to be a fairly trivial to implement and reasonable stopgap until T3.x / T4 overhauls frezze surely ???loopdloop wrote:however, the option to "Mute rendered tracks" during render (instead of "Delete rendered tracks") would be super nice!
... maybe even 'mute and minimize rendered tracks' ???
