Music made with Zebra

Just had a listen to "Floppy Poppy" and "Abby Normal". Really nice work. "Floppy Poppy" got me very distracted after that first part. Reminded me of things you can hear on the Csound-list, and a bit like Mercury Rev in certain places. Distorted without distortion. Impressive that it is only zebra.

Brilliant!!! How the hell you mannage to fit in those instruments are a mystery to me. They fit like gloves on a handmleghorn wrote:Here's a piece, which I call "Abby Normal" that strictly uses patches from mcnoon's Zebra Vision soundset:

Drugs. Seriously though, I start with 30 instances of Zebra (in a Sonar template I had created), and pick my 20 or 30 or so favorite patches. It helps to be proficient with editing in Sonar, e.g. drag & drop, copy & paste, select & nudge left/right.mkastrup wrote:How the hell you mannage to fit in those instruments are a mystery to me.

Thanks for the great sounds mcnoone. The "choir of mice" is one of my all time favorite patches. The part where I use it, accompanied by war drums ("Ancient China Drum"), makes me think of orcs in drag.mcnoone wrote:Sounds like a psycho thriller movie.

Very nice! Lots of cool sounds. I like how you manage to keep up the variety while sticking to the same bass line. Reminds a little of "In C" in that respect (Terry Riley).critza wrote:Ok i'll contribute something i did. An electronic popsong.
All sounds made with zebra, except the drums though.

I love it! Awesome track! I wish I could get some of your sounds. I like the saw pad with a sharp but gentle attack, towards the middle. Can I get a hold of that patch? Love the fast arpeggios near the end. I like how "the past or future aren't real" deteriorates into noise. Very cool album cover!bagginz wrote:This one's all Zebra except for the sampled percussion and the Aah choir pad in the breakdown at 4:54 secs - (which was Omnisphere IIRC) and Messrs. Sagan and Watts.

Update on "Floppy Poppy":Howard wrote:I would lose the first 2:35, or at least get rid of that DX-type sound.
1) I took Howard's advice, and got rid of (most of) the DX-type sound.
2) Re-orchestrated much of it.
3) It has a new URL:
http://soundcloud.com/mike-leghorn/from ... to-old-age
4) Renamed it: "From Youth to Old Age"
Thanks for your advice Howard!

I'll listen to this in a second.
Not sure if you want it that way, but none of your Soundcloud files can be downloaded. The sound quality is much better from downloaded mp3's than online ones.
You can make them downloadable, by clicking that option on (change to a green check, from a red X) during the upload process, or you can just edit them to do it.
