My problem is that I‘m on Mac Silicon now and can not use UHBIK anymore reliably.
It‘s a dead investment currently. Disappointing.

We're really trying. I'm counting 4 developers we had hired specifically to work on Uhbik over the years. Each time one of them leaves, we hire a new one, put them through a year or two of training, then let them pick up the code from where it was left. The current one is super good and came very far. But right now he's on paternal leave and will come back for a couple of days a week next year. Once he's back we'll have meeting to evaluate how far we are.

Maybe you should hire a shaman or druid to lift the Uhbik curse ... at least for me, it sounds a bit supernatural.Urs wrote: Mon Nov 18, 2024 10:57 am We're really trying. Jokes aside, I got Uhbik some time ago, looked at the alpha, liked it very much, looked at the old V1 plugins which are good but show their age, thought I'll wait for V2, and stayed in this undefined state. I guess I'm not the only one feeling like this. But I have the feeling 2025 it will be ...

So basically uhbik is a low priority project that is assigned to rather cheap college graduates who leave as soon as possible to get jobs that are paid better ?Urs wrote: Mon Nov 18, 2024 10:57 am We're really trying. I mean, it sucks for you too, right ? You have to do all the paperwork, bureaucracy, pay them, invest time, and basically get nothing. They get paid, can improve their resume and leave you in the dust with a code structure that the next one needs to get into before beeing able to effciently expand.

That's not exactly true. We have always hired people with specific knowledge for Uhbik, such as people who can add new effects algorithms (which has indeed happened). We have also hired people with extensive knowledge of surround processing.
The developer who's in charge currently has done invaluable work for us, helping us through several major transitions and transformations, while also taking on various refactorings of multichannel processing for the various plug-in APIs (e.g. we never had surround or proper side chaining for AAX, and bringing back AAX for Apple Silicon also brought proper side chaining and surround capabilities).
However, he's not available at the moment, but we expect him back early next year.

Yeah, and talk about misplaced priorities!
@Urs, seriously, congrats to your developer and very cool he can be home on paternal leave. That is great.

Bad jokes apart, for me you guys are doing things right! So many things in good shapes now!
Sometimes things get in the way we, update addicts, would love the things to go, but spending time with a brand new kid is so great and a well deserved right! Cheers to your colleague!

I was talking about NAMM 2026
Honestly, and seriously, I don't think we should expect anything before 2026 or 2027 unfortunately

I'm really looking forward to completely replacing the whole Soundtoys Bundle with Uhbik 2.0. So that I can remove the iLok spyware from my machine.
