yup! got my ik email this morning!

now to find an iKey somewhere in the area!!!!

...By next week the installer of AmpliTube 2, along with instructions for registering your IK product and activating your Syncrosoft key, will be available in the "Download Software Updates and Free Software" section of your user area

I know this might be a silly question, but how does this compare to Guitar Rig 2?

Looks, don't matter so much as sound... so, which has the most meat?

Anyone have experience with both?

i bought the v1 with the "free upgrade" to v2. truly only bought it for v2 and on faith (urgh)--i've used v1 in the past, but never really got exactly what i wanted out of it...having said that--it's still useful to have around--tho for guitar tones i definately use the podxt (with all modelPacks) instead of v1.

i'm just hoping v2 can compare to the podxt (mainly for heavily distorted tones)...just be nicer to use and edit as the plugin is just a vst insert instead of recorded tracks!

I got my free upgrade e-mail too,
but does this mean they won't be sending a boxed version
to free upgraders ? From reading, it looks like they are
only sending the iKey and not the boxed version of Amplitube 2.
Or am I misunderstanding this.
Squids or anybody, can you confirm this ?
I'm in the dark here.

I really wanted a boxed version...
Not just a download.. If I'm understanding this email right,
this means I'm waiting 8-10weeks just for the USB Key....
I've looked for the USB Key which is sold here
and it costs about $40 in US currency!
I'll try to wait if they're going to send me a boxed version,
but just for an USB key...... no way.

So far, it would appear to be the most skillful guitarist/programmer in most cases.

Thanks MickGael. For what its worth, you know that over the years I have had a lot of influence on IK, especially with SR's heavy involvement in things. Sometimes it is very difficult to predict development timing. However, measures are being taken both at IK and SR to try to be much more accurate and hold off announcing too early. That's why you don't even get to see all that we have coming for the next virtual instrument and ST format libraries just yet. Better they are a surprise just before their release.

Hopefully a bad taste in one's mouth can be washed out with good tasting things. That's how I look at it. For example, AT2 even took longer than expected and some expected ship dates were missed. However, at least it is because of years of hard work to make it exist the way it is now which many people find to be a superb product that was worth the wait. I genuinely think so myself. Granted, it is easy to say especially now that it IS available and we can't go back in time. Best to look forward anyway on these things.

Anyway, I hope you really enjoy your AmpliTube 2 and get a lot out of it. Cheers.

There is no boxed version (the the app is exactly the same of course). But, if you mean are they sending the physical materials such as the box and manuals etc. then no. However, you might be able to get the box and printed manuals if you really wanted it by asking elijah@esoundz.com or you can try asking IK but I'd wait a few months to ask for the box and manuals because they will be busy with everything else. It's not supposed to come with it but that doesn't mean you can't ask for it (maybe have to pay nominal shipping cost for that because that is a different size shipment than what was planned... I think an envelope with the key in it etc.).

For less. But, in some places you can get it for even less than that. email elijah@esoundz.com and tell him Squids said to give you the best deal possible on the Ikey. If you've bought something from esoundz he'll give you a killer deal. Even if you haven't he'll hook you up best he can.

My advice is not to wait. Just get it this week guys! Pick up your own freakin' key and get a good deal on it. Unless you really just don't want to spend any money at all (you AT1 guys did save quite a bit relative to new AT2 buyers to justify it though... but that's up to you).
