To me, S1A is well worth its 20$. If you're not yet used to how "free" and unlimited other Sequencers are, and if you're just beginning to "grow into" a Sequencer.
You could also look at it from the perspective of someone who primarily records stuff and just wants the tools necessary to glue his or her tracks together.

I mean, if you have a home studio, you like to jam a bit on your guitar, have it recorded, add a bit of effects to it, perhaps record some drums or whatever you wish, all the tools are there in the Artist version, aren't they? I'd say from that perspective the $20 investment is an awesome bargain (yes, I like the sound of the plug-ins that come bundled with it), though I'm not sure any DAW without VST support justifies a price tag of $250.

I know what you mean, but no, all tools are clearly NOT there.

Ever tried programming a useful drum track with EZ Drummer LITE?
1 kick, 1 snare, 1 cymbal and 1 tom?! (or something like that)

As i said, it's well worth its current $20 price tag. But what it's not worth is its MSRP of 250$, asking that much for something that can't even load a VST is just f**king rude.

I concur. But what about Impact? Doesn't Impact come bundled with the Artist version? I haven't tried the LE version of EZDrummer so I can't comment on that, but anyone should be able to write some beats with Impact. Samples would be required, though.

Anyhow, I'm not standing on the barricades in favour of PreSonus, yet I'm really pleased their software and their feedback in their forums, so this should be a no-brainer that doesn't require much discussion as to its MSRP price tag.

Sonivox Sampla $29.

Not sure if this is any good or not. However, it apparently DOES actually sample, unlike most of the "samplers" on the market.

Product page:

Then click on Hip Hop. Sampla will be on the menu on the right side. There are a few videos.

I'd give a direct link but their links are extraordinarily long.

I'm looking for the best deal on the Komplete 8 upgrade (regular, not ultimate). It seems MF is offering 5% off, which brings the total down to $189.99. Anyone find it cheaper, or should I just go with that?

edit: oops, looks like I was too late on the 5% off MF; coupon expired! :(

IIRC, NI has holiday sales which are usually 50% off. So if it wanting to upgrade isn't eating you alive, I'd wait....

As an aside, still waiting FM9, Massive 2 and Reaktor 6.....Come on Ni, we've been through 3 Kompletes already....

Nice deal. When added to the shopping cart from EU, it translates to 60 EUR for both download MAGIX Music Maker 17 & MAGIX Samplitude 11.5 Producer.

How good is that Magix Music Production Suite? The info from OS is plain scarce.

I'm wondering about this deal too, and I can't find info about this "producer" edition on their comparison chart. Does anyone know the difference between the "Producer" edition and the "Pro" edition?

Post

The so-called "Producer Edition" is NOT Samplitude Pro!!!!

It's MAGIX' bloated and undersupported consumer sequencer edition of samplitude formerly known as Magix Music Studio. (not Music Maker.)

IMO, it's not even worth half that price.

The VST and VSTi plugins it brings can't be used in other VST hosts, and the program itself is a mess. It installs GIGABYTES of sh1t on your system, like Music Maker Silver edition (=demo) and some Firebird (or whatever it's called) Database system for some MAGIX music manager and the MAGIX Internet Printing thing...
Loads of unwanted bollocks that'll sit on your PC and take up space, and it'll leave traces even if you uninstall it all afterwards.
And from my experience (had v2004, v2006 and v2007) you can't even choose not to install all that shiznat.

It's obviously aimed at those who don't have the faintest idea of what they're doing but want to be "producers" nonetheless.
Oh, and it sounds like Samplitude Pro.

For that sort of money, and I'm talking "half that price", I'd rather get REAPER again than rewarding MAGIX for this...

Looking through last years sales blurb, and the holiday sale did not apply to upgrades/updates. :(
