Question about drag n drop sample
When drag n drop sample and save preset in custom exp, In what directory sample imported ?
or It is not imported anywhere ? or it is packed in .avgr ?

I think it is stored inside the avenger preset itself, but not sureDen13 wrote:Question about drag n drop sample

It's in the preset file. I would have preferred a different method for working with straight audio samples - like an option to read the sample from it's location or to pack the sample into preset (for sound pack creation purposes). At this point, using the same sample in several Avenger instances is duplicating the said sample over all instances and unnecessarily increase the size of the project. I think this sample playback function needs a little bit of fine tuning.Den13 wrote:Question about drag n drop sample

Thats exactly the way it was before (and still is). Just import the sample NOT via drag and drop. Import it by converting it into your custom expansion (its described in the manual how). Then you can use it in as many presets as you like, and have it only 1 time in your XP.
btw, we are not friends of "paths" stored to locate samples. You can not share your sounds (will result in *missing sample) and after some years, when you changed your HD locations, you also can't read it any more.

How about linking drag'n'drop samples while the current preset is not saved and only embedding those samples when a preset actually gets saved as .avgr? A "link drag& drop samples for unsaved presets" checkbox in system options will do - keep it unchecked and let the users check it should they want this behavior. And if the sample is missing just keep the sample name in Avenger's central display and display an error message with the old path of the sample and maybe a browse button to select a new path or sample.msvs wrote:you must be kidding, right?sircuit wrote:It's in the preset file.
TL:DR
No I kid not, but I may have been missunderstood because I wrote a very cumbersome thing up there, I had to read it two times now to get what I wanted to actually write.
So, scenario 1: I want to make a pack, import audio samples as per manual instructions, use them, etc. all OK, I'm happy with that
Scenario 2: I simply want to drag & drop audio samples to Avenger for music making purposes:
- if I save the preset in Logic's own preset format, the sample is embedded resulting a 2,3 MB preset for a 1,8 MB sample - this right here is insane, I have a sample on my ssd, a copy saved as Logic-specific preset and a copy(or more) in project(s).
- if I save the preset in Avenger's own preset format, the sample is embedded again resulting a 1,7 MB preset for the same sample
- any other sampler will link and use a tiny tiny preset file size.
Now I know that from your point of view Avenger is not a sampler and you'll go to greath legths not to cannibalise Phalanx. But between Phalanx (which I own) and Avenger, I would rather use Avenger's graphics because Phalanx looks blurry on retina among others. And for what I use in Phalanx single, Avenger is 99% up to the task. So I am serious when I suggest that a sample link may be welcomed. Duplicating a 10GB sample library (I know people with even more) into Avenger's internal library is overkill. And embedding the same files over and over again is wasting SSD space. Selective add of samples into the library will be waste of time on the long run.

Question: why there is no sample end marker in the sample editor?
How can I set the sample end?

Did anyone had a chance to try the latest Avenger expansions?
I'm interested in the Psy expansion, and while there is a big problem with their payment system which stops me from buying it, some comments about it would be welcome while I hope one day they will want my money and I can finally buy it...

I'm interested too, but it's a bit too expensive for an expansion. It would be nice to know how many sequences and arp sounds are in this pack (not the arp midi files). A list with all sounds and the categories would be nice.
What's the problem with the payment system? Can you get into your paypal account after clicking on the paypal button?

I've been having an issue where the noise oscillator will randomly, occasionally play as the "static noise" oscillator. On maybe one note in 10 or 20 the little animated waveform view will freeze like it does when using static noise and play back static noise. Furthermore it will keytrack even if I've disabled the pitch module.
I made a capture of it last night; I'll send it over to Rene later when I'm back at home.
I've also been having a visual bug with the new skin. When I move a knob, there will be a light "impression" of knobs position when I first opened the UI. So if I open Avenger and the filter cutoff is at 12 o'clock, then I turn it to 3 o'clock, there will still be a faded shadow of the knob at 12. Then if I close/reopen the UI it will go away and reoccur at the 3 o'clock position if I move the cutoff again. It's not the end of the world for me, but probably worth noting.
