Which would explain everything sounding like fm noise.Dirtgrain wrote: Fri Aug 16, 2024 4:38 pm I've enjoyed making Synplant presets, and I like it. It does have limitations, and it cannot do much with samples that have harmony in it. Playing with any preset on the seed tree is fun and can be productive, but it's much a process of chance and discovery. I imagine the same will be said for Spire AI. You will have to wade through some crap results to find great sounds (that's pretty much my moto, though).

Yup- some lovely stuff; Spire is still one of the best sounding VSTs ever made.
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

You guys notice how the PDF info file for The Sight sound set says this: "REQUIREMENT: Reveal Sound Spire synthesizer Version 1.5.17 or higher"
.. yet the newest public version is 1.5.16 (which is still rather damn buggy with notes being stuck if you use modwheel and sustain pedal at the same time).
So finally some hope for an update that fixes these bugs that have been plaguing the damn synth for the past 5 years?
Also this little bit in the PDF:
"All of these presets have been created using Reveal Sound's groundbreaking new artificial intelligence, Reveal Sound AI, integrated in Spire synthesizer."

Spire AI sounds like one of the least interesting updates I can imagine. The synth itself is already easy to program. Hard to see how AI is going to be of great benefit. I'd much rather see Reveal Sound allow importation of wavetables than whatever this is meant to be.
That said, if the update is free, I'll have a look although Spire is on my "possibly sell/trade" list.

I'd imagine there soundset shop mix 10 times more money than spire so I'm questioning the wisdom in baking in an essentially infinite preset Bank maker. Perhaps their goal is to actually make it easier for sound designers to make presets and they're counting on just the majority of customers not to dig due to deep in this area?

Preset making/saving/management/sharing is THE WAY for every synthesizer. If it's aiming to be used and aimed at popularity. Therefore, features and functionality related to presets should be improved as much as possible.
Bug fixing is good, too!

It's probably just a simple patch generator branded as "AI". "AI Washing" is all the rage right now.
I'd rather they focused on fixing bugs like the VST3 parameter bugs mentioned earlier.

Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care

At least we know we are getting a new version soon- as well as new features I would expect bug fixes...AdvancedFollower wrote: Wed Aug 21, 2024 7:32 am I'd rather they focused on fixing bugs like the VST3 parameter bugs mentioned earlier.

"Coming this Summer" pretty much HAS to mean in under a month. "AI," I kinda doubt it, but if they just have algorithms that can create this kind of complexity and beauty, I may not leave my seat until Winter. I haven't felt this excited for a synth since I believed Zebra 3 was on the verge of release...
