Just a heads up: rack introduces more latency than any other their individual plugin. But that should not be a problem if one doesn't add rack instance per track, on a lot of tracks, while live-tracking midi/audio.Ceej wrote: Tue Nov 17, 2020 1:28 am Since Soundtoys bundle and Effects Rack are back on sale, here's some stuff I wrote up in the past comparing the two:
The Effects Rack contains, in effect, all but two plugins of their full SoundToys 5 Bundle. Basically it's a rack-interface that contains 14 of their plugins. The individual plugins cannot be used outside of the rack - that's the main "gotcha" with this vs. the full SoundToys bundle. However, you can instantiate as many or as few plugins in each Rack instance as you want, so all you're really losing is some screen real estate (and the Rack can be resized several different ways so you don't necessarily lose very much). And the rack introduces some pretty neat routing and preset-management possibilities besides.
The full SoundToys 5 bundle contains 20 plugins (their site says 21, but the 21st is the Rack itself). 6 of those 20 are not in the Rack - Devil-Loc, Little MicroShift, Little Plate, Little AlterBoy, Little Radiator, Little PrimalTap. However, the Rack contains the "big" version of four of those: Devil-Loc Deluxe, MicroShift, Radiator, and PrimalTap. So really the only two SoundToys you're missing with the Effects Rack are Little AlterBoy and Little Plate, which don't have "big" versions. For the savings you're getting ($129 vs. $229 at the moment) it's a tremendously fair trade-off.

I am hunting for Launchpad Pro MK3 this black friday. Can anyone recommend an European online shop with hardware for musicians that supposed to have black friday deals?

Actually, I think he might be right. I just checked the manuals for some of the Arturia FX. For compressors and filters .. Niccolo Comin, François Reme and a bunch of other Pulsar staff are credited. Huh... who knew..telecode wrote: Tue Nov 17, 2020 12:58 pmdangayle wrote: Tue Nov 17, 2020 12:02 amWhere did you come by this information?Uncle E wrote: Mon Nov 16, 2020 9:55 pmThey're made by Pulsar Audio. I would be also interested in the source of this info? I was not aware of Puslar being involved in the new Arturia FX.Ploki wrote: Tue Nov 17, 2020 9:13 amyou sure that's correct?Uncle E wrote: Mon Nov 16, 2020 9:55 pmThey're made by Pulsar Audio. Incidentally, Pulsar are also having a BF sale.

I got smasher last year as a freebie. It's sort of cool.
Does anyone know anything about how the Mu compares to Arturia compressors in the FX collection?

I did notice that Pulsar act as a white label DSP shop for other people. Or at least they seem to advertise their services that way:telecode wrote: Tue Nov 17, 2020 1:04 pmActually, I think he might be right. I just checked the manuals for some of the Arturia FX. I do want to give Pulsar my money because they are smaller and up and comer.. but the realty is, the Arturia deal fulfills GAS syndrome much better. It's about $6 per plugin with the current deal. Darn it!!

Filterfreak is highly regarded, though it was cheaper in May ($29 vs BF sale price of $39). It's on my wish list.goldenanalog wrote: Wed Nov 18, 2020 2:15 am Question (I'm soliciting for yours/personal opinions, here)
I'm getting into sound design - Any filters to recommend that's currently BF priced?
