Uninstall x1? I don't think so. Are people recommending that? I just installed x1 right along 8.5

In almost every version of Sonar it takes at least 2 hotfixes before you get a somewhat stable platform. For me there was a few features that I learned to not use do to stability and I would workaround those to get things done. It's always best to buy early during the sales and not use it as your main workstation then wait for a stable release with Cakewalk or your bound to have headaches. the one thing that bothered me the most is when the drop a version they completely drop it so any hotfix to could have helped all versions was not obtainable( which I might add is the norm in the industry, funny that one of the exception's is Windows but there are more ).
Not really a bitch tho, cause the program is deep enough to get whatever you need from it with patience.

Installed this am and ran a few weird third-party vsts, no probs, ran fast and stable so far.
Very excited to start using the new automation lanes, autozoom, etc.
I'll keep you posted on my experience.

Still the same. But I make the dock full screen and just toggle views.hibidy wrote:One of the things I really hated in x1 was whan a plug in is docked, there was no scroll. This could really be a problem when it's something like kontakt where its a large screen and you have to put the whole thing up to see certain parts. Reaper has the scroll, so you don't have to adjust the real estate to see one small part.
Any chance they changed that?

Well there's auto track zoom, where when you click on a track in track view it automatically zooms up to whatever size you drag it to. All tracks automagically zoom in and out with your clicks...awesome!memyselfandus wrote:what is this auto zoom? sounds interesting..Gonga wrote:Installed this am and ran a few weird third-party vsts, no probs, ran fast and stable so far.

Then there's Timeline zoom, where zooming with the wheel focuses on the Now Time, so the Now Time stays on screen as you zoom in and out.
Etc., etc., there are a lot of really thoughtful features added - I think this is my favorite release so far since Pro Audio days...

X2 looks great. Looking foward to trying the demo.

Cubase has had "Enlarge Selected Track" for about 6-7 years at least.
I really get the feeling that people at Steinberg or Cakewalk or some other companies actually don't even really look at competitors products.
No offense to Cakewalk (or any other company) but maybe all these companies should just hire summer interns to demo and make lists of all the useful features from every other DAW. I say that because the ripping of some functions and methods is sometimes really, really slow. All tracks automagically zoom in and out with your clicks...awesome!

Logic has had Auto Track Zoom since the 90's and it's something I've always missed in Samplitude. The Sonar implementation looks good.Cubase has had "Enlarge Selected Track" for about 6-7 years at least.
