This just made my day, console emulation for the pro channel, Breverb cakewalk edition and the new roland Rmix, if this addresses all the X1 probs not that I have many this should be incredible!! Cheers Barry
Also new Guitar amp and reverb pro channel module, new Uis and vast workflow improvements.!!

Finally automation lanes and the ability to replace a synth - not revolutionary but took long enough

Based on my experience with Sonar over the past five years and four releases, it's wicked buggy at the time of release, slightly less buggy after two service packs, and remains buggy until the next release. Sonar always looks great on a spec sheet, but if you shell out money before trying a demo (and they never offer a demo at release time), you do so at your own peril.

The last version I tried was 7, and it was literally unusable on my system which ran many other DAWS just fine--constant crashing, audio stuttering, and just all sorts of nightmares. Trying to get help on their forums just got me scolded and talked down to by pretty much all of the users there, and trying to get help directly from Cakewalk themselves was a joke. Everyone just basically told me I was an idiot who didn't know what I was doing, and I assure you, I am not an idiot.yevster wrote:Based on my experience with Sonar over the past five years and four releases, it's wicked buggy at the time of release, slightly less buggy after two service packs, and remains buggy until the next release. Like you said, it looks good on paper, but I am always hesitant to try it because the last time I did, it was really the worst experience I have ever had with any DAW.
I am using Cubase now, but I really hate the (lack of) window-management, and miss the ability to dock windows. Now that X1 has apparently reached the end of its life, I may give the trial version a spin and see if they have cleaned it up.
I would be curious to hear any users' input on the current state of how buggy/usable X1 is. The overhauled GUI and window-management look really great, but I just don't know if it is even worth the time to demo...

Wow, automation lanes! I'm already using those in Reaper.
I guess better late than never, but it seems like Cakewalk is more and more focused on bundling new FX plugins with Sonar than anything else.

Definitely a +1 on that. Although I would like to see how it works out ...aMUSEd wrote:Finally automation lanes and the ability to replace a synth - not revolutionary but took long enough

Seems more like a point release with plug-ins added so thy can call is an upgrade. Shudder to think what the upgrade price will be... This time I'll definitely wait till the stupidly cheap sales start happening. Still miffed at upgrading to expanded only to have the price drop to $10.00 a few weeks later
It's business, I know, and I had my "expanded" functionality 2 weeks before "the other guy"... still sucks.
PS: In fact, same bloody thing happened with the P.C. modules. That's it, not buying ANY from CW at full price or on release anymore
EDIT: Turns out the "upgrade" from X1 Prod Ex. to X2 is $99... not too bad but i might wait for a sale later. Still haven't gotten properly to grips with X1 as is
