Well, I said so, twiceFrantz wrote: You certainly aren't an expert because now you're mixing up copyrights and trademarks.![]()
(for anyone as distracted as me) Copyright: nobody can use it, period. Trademark: nobody can use it commercially.
However, look at this, it contains some interesting bits http://www.inta.org/TrademarkBasics/Fac ... Sheet.aspx
Just for fun, I'll add that their claim lists "music synthesizers and electronic musical instruments; namely, multi-timbral digital sound modules " A good lawyer could easily point out that a monotimbral synthesizer and any vst (vst's not being modules) can therefore use the term, just like you can use it in pdf manuals, as they are not printed, as stated by the claim ;-P
Anyway, this is all crap, and I agree when you say "I am bored of this discussion. Let's get some Icarus demo sounds soon please[/quote]

Everybody consider themselves to be experts in intellectual property rights, but for some reason people are still hiring us, patent attorneys, when they have to deal with anything serious
Judging from what was said in this thread, the risk for Tone2 to infringe somebody's IP rights is next to non-existent. Period.

Quoted for truth. And hopefully an end to this pointless discussion.Frantz wrote: I think the discussion is academic since Dave Rossum (founder of E-mu) and Markus have better things to do with their time.

More official infos were added at the Tone2 Facebook page, this time related to teh FX section of Icarus:

Tone2 Icarus will come with a powerful effect section. 3 Modular slots, each with 53 different effect types will be available. You will be able to create your own custom effects, which can be loaded and saved from the harddisc. The flexible routing will allow you to route single oscillators to different effects. The innovative ducking mode can change the dry/wet mix of delays and reverbs dynnamically, as a result you get a more transparent mix. The additional feeback section allows you to route the output back to the input. This way you can create completely new effects, like a delayed-phaser or a feebacked-vibrato.

Having ones ducks-in-a-row, before the pan... interesting.

I can't stop thinking of 'shining teeth' in dental health ads whenever I look at the pics posted!
