Just made an account here (mainly in the hope I will one day be allowed to use the marketplace
) and on my first browse came across this thread at the top of one of the subforums. Which is great, because as a psytrance enthusiast I feel there's too little love for this branche of music. So I guess this is the best place for my first post. Hi!

The kick and bass are always a nightmare and I’m never quite happy. Actually I read an interview with Raja Ram (who has been doing this for 30 odd years) where he said he was still looking for the perfect kick and bass.
In a nutshell, for a typical kbBB pattern: bounce one bass note, copy it three times, make a separate mixer channel for the first note of the three and tweak its phase to make it blend with the kick tail better, also make its volume lover than the other two. The relative volume of this first note defines the groove.
That's actually quite simple process unless you have key changes.
I use this plugin for adjusting the phase, it's free and does the job https://www.kvraudio.com/product/fa-sam ... ward-audio

Basically I do what is shown in the tutorial (the synth settings, the processing and the resampling step) and tweak it by ear, works for me. I may also add a pultec style eq to boost the low end a bit as shown here

Sylenth is still number 1 when it comes to basic psybass.

E-Clip made kick and bass very fast. Usable? Not sure myself. I am making kick and bass today since 11am, 3 in fact and I will choose the one I feel is best. 3 synths /3 flavours. I could use a sample but I feel for some strange reason, maybe sheer punishment, kick and bass is like some devotional practice, today after 3-4 hours the analogy that springs to mind is like a devotee laying prostrating themselves down and standing up and circling the base of mount Kailiash. Taking it too seriously ? Totally pointless activity as if meanng nothing? Well that is the paradox of such practices, the space created between the 2 extremes giving some middle path.
I am always after this very specific effect with kick and bass that I can barely even describe but I know once it is there, on one hand I wish it took 1 minute, then again...
Each to their own methodology and needs.

Marko spent countless hours until he became E-Clip, of course he can make usable k&b in matter of minutes, but I'm sure he take his time too when he wants something particular, he maybe arrives there faster than next guy tho.

I tend to use free running oscs these days on bass and focus more on the whole thing rather than wanking on bass for days. Of course the sound isn't as surgical compared to a bass made "properly", but I'm happy and have more progress. Real 101 style

It takes me 1/2 hour make to the kick.
which of course has to be built for the tempo and key of your track. And yes happy is what counts.
