JiggSaw wrote: Tue Oct 19, 2021 5:14 pm I'm not mad at the announcement. I just think $99 would be a better price point than $149.
again it is great content if you compare with other XPs from other companies, you get here a lot of more presets each pack, new effects, new wavetables and lots more.
it is like VERY bloated xps. very very interesting if you need more of whats nearly now available but disappointing i expected more than BIG BIG xps.
Yeh, these things are like new 'Mini-Omnispheres', in the first extension for example -

Exclusive new “Under Fire” saturator/comp/EQ effect!
Exclusive new “Under Echo” pitch-shifted ambience effect!
Over 2,000 sounds in eleven different categories
Powerful Custom Controls for creative sound manipulation
Over 300 extraordinary new Soundsources (over 7GB)
Innovative Modular Multisampling – unique timbre/gesture per-key
So you get 2 new FX, 2000 new presents (!) and 7Gig of new content (and their content is normally very good) for 150 bucks...
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

suckers....

Not soo spectacular. There are enough high quality single instruments on the market. I thought they think bigger. So maybe RMX 2 is not so far away. They know we are waiting.

beely wrote: Mon Oct 18, 2021 1:40 pmIn the meantime, over the past years, they *could* have been building a large library of commercial expansions for all their instruments, especially RMX which would keep it's sounds a bit more contemporary to current production styles, but my point was they specifically chose not to do this, and instead invested their sound design effort into expanding the current instruments, or building new ones (eg Keyscape).
Seems like they decided to build out some commercial expansions after all, then...

Sorry, I am being thick. What exactly has been updated today. I can't see anything new after update!

2.6 in 2019, 2.7 in 2020, 2.8 now in 2021 -- does this mean v3 in 2023?

There's a place to enter a coupon code on checkout but Eric said they weren't running sales. This dude has turned into a used car dealer real quick.

Mixed feelings here. I think I've actually only demo'ed a small percentage of Omni's presets and I use it far more often to create my own sounds. There certainly seems to be a lot of intriguing stuff, particularly Nylon Sky and Seismic Shock, but I'm not feeling insta-buy here.

I've read that. But where is this new multi-sample engine? Or was that a joke?

Biome_Digital wrote: Tue Oct 19, 2021 5:06 pm Is this just soundpacks? This is addon content, isn't it?
Not quite. Each comes with custom effect modules that can be used in any patch. They have new custom controls, and there is a new multi-sampling engine. There are new Scene presets within the Omnisphere presets that can be toggled to swap out the entire FX bus. It's now HiDPI.

It's worth watching the videos for each expansion pack to see what's now possible.
I guess you mean these new addon sound packs have the new multi-sample engine? I thought we just got that in the new update. Oh well. That's me done.

I just noticed that if you buy any packs you cant sell/transfer them separately but they can be sold if you sell OMNI 2 as they transfer with it (so you have to sell OMNOI + extensions as once bundle)

Hmm. No ability to edit custom controls or create your own. They only seem to work on the Extension pack presets. Same with Scenes. You can edit them on the new pack presets, but no way to create your own from scratch on your own patch that I can see.

And I'm going to guess that all the Multisampling functionality is the same. Locked behind expansion patches with no ability to create custom patches with it.

Effectively making all this new functionality rompler-only.

As near as I can tell, the only new feature for 2.8 without the packs is HiDPI mode.
