Only those who do not want to improve are offended by critics. It does not mean we need to accept all the critics or suggestions but it usually can show us something that we do not think about before that can lead us to enjoy music making even more. Absolute knowledge doesn't exist and we can learn new stuff infinitely. Comments, suggestion, critics or even personal opinion should trigger creativity and not anger.gorgorgathgorgorgor wrote: Wed Feb 02, 2022 2:07 pmThis is exactly what I do, and I'm sure it does upset people. I totally agree with you! For me, too, the position in the list is relative, but comments are the most important (they also allow me to understand my position in the listDouble Tap wrote: Tue Feb 01, 2022 9:57 pm ...
I think the commenting is more important than the prizes or the position in some ways. I make music for people to listen to really, so that’s a big reward in itself.
...
maybe next time I’ll just listen and comment straight away and then skim to remind myself when the voting happens.
Firstly, perhaps the best way to leave the maximum number of useful comments is to regularly view the current OSC page, listening to and commenting on the tracks that appear. Note: today is February 4th, and we already have several WIPS and one submission!) Start now and some of the work will already be done by the start of the voting, in addition, it may motivate some deadline lovers (like me) to finish their tracks a little earlier for the sake of more comments.
Secondly, about half of the tracks will still be uploaded on the last day, this is the element of OSC. Some have already written their own options here, for example, I vote like this: I go to the voting page and click on the first track with the mouse wheel - this track opens in a new tab on SoundCloud (for me there is another advantage - I can turn down the volume a little, which is too big for me on the voting page). So, I listen to the track, simultaneously recording my thoughts in the form of comments, sometimes I like and subscribe, then I close this SoundCloud page, automatically return to the voting page and give my rating to the track. Then it's the same for the next one. It's fast, and if you don't need to translate comments from your native language into English, then it's 60% faster than for me!) And remember that up to 40% of the work has already been done before!
Thirdly, you can break your voting process into parts. When you have voted for a part of the tracks and exit the voting page, your votes are saved. The next time you come in, you'll start where you left off. On the one hand, this may slightly affect your ratings in terms of comparing tracks with each other, on the other hand, there is no absolutely unbiased voting! Maybe someday it will be introduced when we teach AI to determine the rating of tracks, and after that, every time we will come in Slack and Discord to complain about injustice...

I know that many (including me) are waiting for Surge XT, there are also synthesizers from DC 2021 and much more on the previous pages (of history), but I will remind you of my offer again. I feel something special about this synthesizer, it just sounds... pleasantly. The complete opposite of Synister!

Ah, yes. That reminded me to have a look at that one. Downloaded, unpacked and forgot about it before. Sounds nice and clean alright. Is there a manual for it ? It only seems to tune in octaves and a single semitone, which makes RM and FM options disappointingly limited.

He has released some videos about 2RuleSynth, maybe they contain some hints. The generators have only octave and fine (+-50 cents), this is really not enough for a full-fledged FM, so it seems to be present here as one of the ways to diversify the sound)
However, I have just read the following on his website:
"I have developed the plugin to gain experience and understand the juice framework. I don't think they are any big bugs. Some basic things are missing. I will complete them over time."
So maybe it makes sense to wait a little longer and I'm rushing things!)

As it stands there are issues with patch saving. While it is possible to save a patch it seems only to save it for that instance, I am unable to load it in a different instance or project. It just does not seem ready for OSC yet.

Hm, my patches are loaded in all instances, but the system for saving patches as a whole needs to be improved in depth, so I agree that it would be better to wait some more.

Keep on bringing in those suggestions
All are very welcome - and I do try to test all suggestions made here. I think its good to keep variety in OSC, and have different levels of challenge.

What about DSP56300? It seems to advance into interesting territory, though a single instance kills my 10-core Mac Pro easily… Might force everybody to do a single instance OSC…
