Sure, go with some of the interface design styles from the synth emulated. That's plenty. But if every synth you make has a different way of accessing controls that were put in by you that were never part of the original... That's just bad UX. Imagine if when you're in Windows or OSX and every application had a different way of opening and closing windows. Pointless. Not quirk, sloppy design.Numanoid wrote:In a way I am sort of happy that there is no all encompassing "one size fits all" that the plugs must fit into, but that individual plugs got their quirks (just like their analog counterparts)zerocrossing wrote:Of course not, but when they did a big UI redesign for a new bundle, I'd assume they'd want to unify the UX/UI design.

Hi.
I've started a tutorial series on Arturia ARP 2600 V3. I want to dive deep into this beast of a synth. The tutorial series is pretty comprehensive, but I'm no expert. The intent is to learn myself, and collaboratively with the viewers. I started the tutorial series using an older version so it's just dumb luck they updated it before I made more content.
If you would like to check it out, here is the YouTube playlist:

Let's Look at Arturia ARP 2600 V3 - Part 1 - Overview:

Let's Look at Arturia ARP 2600 V3 - Part 5 - Ring Mod
Cheers, really loving this new GUI and preset management system. The upgrade was a no-brainer IMO.
Thanks Arturia!

One thing I don't like about the new preset system is it makes it harder to find just the Prophet VS or Hybrid patches for that synth as they are all jumbled up now. You would have thought if you specifically clicked on the icon for each synth it would be clever enough to load just its presets but no.

Thanks for the videos, Grymmjack. I like what I'm seeing with the v3 changes.

Ok...
I'm logged into Arturia and I've got the V5 collection in my Cart.
The same "Cart" page has all my account address details apart from the Country already filled in.
When I select the Country ( in my case UK ) and enter it I get a rotating dial appear centre of page which just rotates and rotates...more rotating...more bloody rotating...I get bored after several minutes and log out.
Anybody else get this ?
If I try to update/change any other info on the same page it accepts the change in a second or less.
@ Kevin from Arturia
I've tried to buy the V5 collection about a dozen times over the last few days. Each time I just get the stupid rotating dial. It's really beginning to tick me off
Tried Firefox and Chrome with same result.

Back to talking about the plugs, anyone else just love the Solina? The blurry UI I can do without (doesn't look too bad at 60%), but the sound is fantastic. I remember using the old Cheese Machine way back in the day (there was another freebie I can't remember the name of right now), then Amber was king of the string machine hill upon release, but I really like the simplicity and sound of this one. So far, the organs and string machines are really top-notch IMO. Combined, those alone probably make this purchase worth it for me, and I haven't even begun to seriously explore the synths.

Yep, the same thing irked me a bit. Why couldn't Arturia have tagged the presets "Prophet 5", "Prophet VS", and "Hybrid"? Seems pretty basic...aMUSEd wrote:One thing I don't like about the new preset system is it makes it harder to find just the Prophet VS or Hybrid patches for that synth as they are all jumbled up now. Absolutely - The pianos sound absolutely laughable in comparison to Pianoteq despite the install footprint being over 5 times the size. The only thing in the pack that I've now uninstalled as Pianoteq 5 completely destroys all the pianos it's emulating.vic_france wrote:A bit disappointed by the pianos (difficult not to be when comparing against Pianoteq).

Have to take back what i said earlier about differences in sound.
No idea what was wrong here that day, but it turns out that the ARP was suddenly 'back to normal' after the PC was rebooted.
Just to let you know.
(Something like this has probably happened to everyone in some form or another so im not gonna apologize but simply retract the statement.)
PS: Havent re-tried the J-8 but im sure the difference i heard that day was due to the same issue. Also didnt re-check the minimoog since that one has in deed been given a new filter, i.e. differences are to be expected in this case.
Little UI bug i noticed on the ARP: The Foot selector of VCO2 (4'-16'/LFO) is only correctly aligned in the 4' position. When its being dragged down, the selector stops between the notches. At the lowest position (which should be LFO) the selector is also closer to the 32' label than the LFO label, hinting at an incorrectly specified drag-length for the control. The issue exists in all sizes.
Also noticed: Saws are still ramping downwards. The 2600P (grey face / white printings) definitely has them ramping upwards though, and since the other models all have upward-ramping glyphs on their faceplate as well (i.e. regardless of VCO chip) im pretty sure that there were no units that actually ramped downwards.

On Windows, the gui's for the Prophet, the SEM, and CS80 the lighting on the lower right portions is "blown out". That is, if it was a photograph the photo would be over exposed. The 3D designer (Yannick?) went a little overboard with the light in the lower right corner. Therefore, whereas the keyboard is nice and crisp on the majority of the plugins, it is barely readable on the three I mentioned above, with the Prophet being the worst. I'm guessing that the designer was working on a Mac. The gamma is different for Mac vs. PC so you need to 'test' things on both platforms otherwise what may be perfect on one will probably be darker or lighter on the other. Best practice is to avoid extreme settings. Just saying. Also in case Kevin or someone else from Arturia reads this forum.

i don't see that on the sem and the cs80. on the prophet it is indeed really visible.Sequent wrote:On Windows, the gui's for the Prophet, the SEM, and CS80 the lighting on the lower right portions is "blown out". Considering that Pianoteq Pro with JUST two instruments, costs as much as the entire V Collection (launching price), I guess you have to be a little forgiving. They are now at version 5, while Arturia is just starting - previous to this collection, they only had the Wurlitzer emulation. For someone that is just starting, they aren't bad at all, and certainly NOT "laughable".mcbpete wrote:Absolutely - The pianos sound absolutely laughable in comparison to Pianoteq despite the install footprint being over 5 times the size.
