Hink, why don't you just calm down and do some guitar phrasing lessons?
guitar phrasing lessons? Something wrong with my playing?

Yes, I allready told you in the past. Your phrasing (and probably tone choice as well) could need some workouts. Just MHO, but then, I'm allways saying what I'm thinking.

Yes. There is work to do. Now that your on board with your new found 'Amazing Rocktron' you deserve to work on your playing to live up to this new found quality gear ! :hihi:

Post

Allright then, Hink. IMO it's got nothing to do with "good" though. But we may discuss this later on as I'm leaving for the gig right now.
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.

I tried hard not to post here but wait a minute. Maybe Hink was overreacting but that Rocktron demo isn't really something phenomenal. Sounds like a mediocre solid state amp with tons of outdated effects. Maybe its raw sound is good but this demo doesn't help or maybe it's just my taste.

PS I never understood tube gear which works with just 9V :nutter:

What do think?
I think the playing is awesome, however the sound is purely subjective...I find the overall tone a little to electronic and tame to maintain the raw sound I like...;)
Forget it..... you will never be happy with an amp sim.

wtf does that mean? In fact you're full of shit...all my music is done with either a POD 2.0 or a Sansamp GT2...both of which are hardware sims.

Hink relax
I just don't understand how somebody can not like that demo.
Even if it's not "your sound" you must admit it sounds very good.
But anyway let me understand, please post a sound that you think is the ultimate, it can be yours or a CD or anything.
Let me hear what you consider a great tone because by now I am totally confused, every tone that I ever heard and considered to be great was immediately commented on here as too plastic, too transistor, too this , too that.

Post one link please.

By the way you said it is an outdated sound.
This might be true.
They make this model since 1998
but I wouldn't know, I am outdated as hell, when I try to dial in a sound it's almost always a sound I first heard in the late 70's...... they were great though......
That reminds me of the era.... hmm 1979 or so when all the giging player were overjoyed by the marvelous compact transistor amps that came out.
They were all selling those 60's heavy tube Fender amps (cheap too) and buying amps like Roland Cube.
Nobody was giving sh*t about tubes then, now we collect them as some priceless jewel.
I don't even want to talk about the 1976 Les Paul Deluxe I sold to fix my car.

yeah maybe I did overeact, but that was because the absurdity of the thought that an electric guitar has to sound electronic...but please tell what is wrong with my phrasing or my tone, listen to Sleeping Giant anything wrong wth that tone ...how bad is my phrasing? The song was done while basking in a new piece of gear and I was happy, even elated...tell me do you hear that in te song? Most people do.

New song, The Whisper , my submission for the katrina relief cd. This song was written based on a poem written by my father in 1941, for fathers day I put it to music. The stlye and key I used here was to stir emotions...do you hear it in the song? (being serious here) most people do. Tell me, what flaws do you hear in my tone? How about the phrasing, afterall phrasing is expression and I am proud of my accomplishment of achieving the desired expression.

http://www.eminantdomain.com/studio/mus ... kmoore.mp3

that's a song that's been on the back burner for a while because I changed the drums, the bass and there will even be a different opening guitar solo....this is suppose to be an instrumental about someone (guitarist) approaching a castle, the mechanical sound is suppose to be a drawbridge opening...that is why the organ slowly comes in. Because the organ is on the inside. As the gate opens more the organ grows in volume. Is there something terrible with the sound here,? It's rolled back at first and slowly brought up....does the phrasing sound okay?

Three songs, three totally different styles and tones...yet I get a blanketed statement about my phrasing and tone...forgive me if I dont take that very serious.

Hi Andrew, I understand you like the sound of that demo but you should understand that other people don't like it. The sound is outdated but not enough. If it sounded like 60s or early 70s it would be cool cause that's the sound we are used too and grew up with. But it sounds very 80s early 90s (you know those giant racks masking the tone of the guitar). Anyway you know what they say about opinions ...

first my apologies, but I dont like words put in my mouth...;) I do like amp sims, just not all of them. After my power amp for my rig gave me a hernia and I had to have surgery I like them more. And fwiw the first thing I said was it was subjective...it really pisses me off that here on KVR you can say 100 times imo and someone will still not get what that means...being subjective meant just what you said, what I like. I think 150 dollar sansamp sounds better for guitar sounds. The Roctron gives you way more choices plus fx, but the core sound of the sansamp is very, very good imo.

So you know, I'm not a kid...I too grew up with technology (started playing in 71). Also I think I hould point out that I'm more likely to own a baseball team then a Les Paul...but that's just me...they are fine guitars, I just rather get more guitar for money....with anything Gibson more of your money pays for the name then the guitar. I put a lot into my electronics on my guitar, and they are active.

BTW cudos on knowing about the Roland cube...they sounded surprisingly well...tell me, have you ever heard of Oliver amps (they haven't been made in at least 30 years)...great jazz amp...:D

What's the deal with the Roland Cube's (the old ones from the late 70s/early 80's not the new ones)? My first amp was a Roland Cube 60 and it still sits in my closet as it never quite worked properly (the clean channel seemed to have been shot before I got it). Is this a decent sounding amp that may be worth getting repaired, or will it be better in my closet? I've since bought a Solid State Crate (distortion sucks, the clean channel is clean as a whistle) and a Fender Twin (the modern Twin, not a Twin Reverb). It's a shame that the amp never worked right at all so I've never really heard it, so again, I'm just curious if it's even worth fixing.
I'm sorry this post wasn't about techno.

Maybe it was recorded with an electric guitar :hihi:
jesus this place is f**ked up..you state an opinion and everyone is a wise ass...I'm sorry
Damn, it was just a joke.

okay I might be mixing the cube up with a different Roland...the one I speak of had four small speakers in a slant cab designed amp...if we're talking about the same amp I would suggest that it depends on what the cost will be. The little one I speak of sounded great, but was really just a practice amp. ..;)

Yeah mind was a little 1x12 (maybe even 1x10) deal and definately more of a practice amp. It wasn't a JC-120 or anything, but I was just kind of curious.
