I can appreciat how you made SURE that it wasnt dong-related by putting it this way "dongle-less". The dash really separates it well. Good job he who is funky!

Go 300!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woops. :hihi:

Ahhh, thanks, good to know the source without having to try to go back through this thread. I checked IK's site and didn't see anything about SVX specifically but will keep watching... enjoy your bundle.
But I highly recommend reading all 300ish pages of this thread. It has a lot of stuff in it. If you have a lot of time on your hands it is a splendid read!

I read that the same developper(s) that worked on SimulAnalog have worked on AT2!!

Now I don't know how correct is this information, but as of now when demoing AT2 it indeed reminds me a lot of GuitarSuite. The way it reacts to volume changes and pick nuances...

Could this piece of information be true? It would explain why AT2 is so good as it is.
Hmm. I don't think this is true. I believe the developers of AT2 have only worked on AmpliTube and the evolution of that program being the first of its kind (complete guitar rig in software) to the version now with Dynamic Saturation Modeling and the new DSP framework, vintage gear models, new mic and cabinet models is something that comes from perfecting and improving the methods from years doing it and learning from that. IK kind of has a head start on this. You know, some companies who start something early get that edge. Take Steinberg Cubase for instance. There aren't too many sequencers that have all of those features but man they have been doing it a long time! It'd be hard to catch up!

Post

Anyone try this on bass yet? I started a track with three instances of AT2 (one on bass) and was totally loving the results. My Guitarport never sounded that damn good in a mix.

A flawed analogy if there ever was one. ;)

Pretty sure Simulanalog was around before AT1 anyhow, no?

T! The guitars sound great. Nice and thick. The drums... well... ummmm. I generally like BFD but a lot of BFD tracks I hear don't sound as good as... well I can't say "our drums" without it sounding sort of ummm... although I did sort of just say it! So fine. Our drums in ST2 sound better than that shite! Oh, did I just say that? I can't say that. Scratch that. I wonder if BFD had imap kits if it would help, at least from finger programming. Pads are another story. The drums in this sound like there's no velocity modulation, like the old Simmons pads. Well, anyway, you were just screwing around and obviously having a lot of fun! Thanks for posting. Chunky guitar. You made the presets yourself or did you use factory ones?

Is this thing going to hit 300?

Flawed analogy? I am just saying that if one has been at it longer there's a chance one may have developed more things, learned more things... stands to reason. I only made this particular analogy because I've often thought about why there aren't that many sequencers that have all of the features that Cubase has. They've just been at it longer is what one would think.

Was Simulanalog around before AT1? I don't know. Also is it a complete rig with amps, stomps and rack effects or just amp simulation? I was talking about a complete rig. Amp Farm was before AT1 but that wasn't a complete rig and it wasn't for all of the plug-in platforms either. Don't know about SimulAnalog. But, either way, even if it was out earlier it certainly isn't what most people use so I guess that could prove that just because you may have been at it longer doesn't mean necessarily that you'd be on the cutting edge either. I mean look at Bitheadz and Unity! They had that before SampleTank and now they're gone (when they had the chance to lead the way maybe being one of the first). So, I agree it isn't always the case... but still, regardless of any analogies that are not perfect ;) I do know that this is how it was developed at IK. Processes were improved upon, things were learned and AT2 is built off of having AT1 first to get there. I think it would have been very hard for any company to have AT2 as the first version of a product without prior experience in that area. Experience plays a part.

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooohoooooooooooo! Squids gets the 300 top page! YEAH! (woops I am not supposed to care but hey... I've been on KVR as long or longer than a lot of you so allow me a little KVR history moment here... pfff ok fine. Lame. Nahhhh. You love it.)

But 300 pages! What were talking about again? Oh yeah. AmpliTube has been released this month!

Squids mate...just so you know, I was poised to grab the 300th page title when I thought, no...no bloke is more deserving of that honour than you.

Truly it can be said...if it were not for you, this thread would have died a lingering death a long, looooong time ago. :hihi:

Hardest sale ever! lol What's it gonna take? haha. Well, maybe no dongle perhaps. It did take this long for that. Anyone who hasn't gotten it yet can now try it out for themselves and see. That's the ultimate test and perhaps the only thing that matters... how it works in your own music! That's why I love it so much. I use it in my music all the time. I rely on it now.

I just saw The Who tonight. They have AmpliTube with them on tour, including some Stealths. Hey, think about it! You're on the road with your laptop? Of COURSE man!!!!!!!!! Who wouldn't want a StealthPlug for that? A guitar interface cable and AmpliTube 2 Live (or in their case I think Pino has Ampeg SVX and Pete AT2.1 but still). Sometimes you can also get these things for the fun and creative use of it, portability etc. that's even if you've been using the same hardware gear for decades! It's interesting that there are probably a lot of hardware amp manufacturers that would love to get the Stones or The Who to use their amp and they just don't seem to change their gear (why fix it if it ain't broke? For the Stones can you think of anything better than a Tweed Twin? Or Hiwatts for Pete?). But, when it comes to having Swiss Army knife tools for the techs or for having something to write with, jam with in hotels, busses, even planes (Steve Tyler was jamming with ST2 and AT on the plane on the Aerosmith tour I heard)... well, it's a good excuse for some new software gear then.

I mean most people here are already spoiled by what software effects and instruments can do. One could almost take it for granted the convenience of not having to repair their amp (if it is a virtual amp) or lug it around or even blow you ear drums out! (it goes to 11 :hihi: )

Post

I hope IK remove the dongle dependency from CSR also. I believe doing this would be better for them as well as us customers.

Actually, I would gladly share the honour with all of you. ;) I was thinking it could have been Dan or A3ntar or T-William or anyone else poking at it. I just saw it was getting close to the edge (good song and album) so I pushed it just over. Minor fun!

Oh, I may have helped keep this thing going for sure but actually if you look at the dates I have never been the one to dig it up. I only respond after someone has revived it from the ashes of KVR past! When I see it pop up again and again I laugh and say "okay!!!! let's go!!!!!!!!!!!". I wish I could get a thread going like this about a product I actually made! lol Anyone wanna talk about Miroslav Philharmonik or Sonik Synth???? Hehe. What if I was to tell you that.... mmmmmfffmmmfmmmmmm (carried away in 'is own muzzle... Squids must not reveal secrets... we loves the precious, silly Hobbitses).
