most of my favorite records/artists were "discovered" after reading about them in my older sister's music mags including: VU, Pil, Suicide, Throbbing Gristle, Eno, Faust,Can, Kraftwerk, Liason Dangerous, Fred Frith, pretty much all the German bands, electronic/synth, industrial, progressive,experimental, etc i like (also lots of jazz and classical for awile there)....from those i got into off-shoots and maintained an intrest in certain things...i did, however, buy tons of total shit (especially in the industrial/synth genres) that i mostly forget the names of thank goodness...it's like you have to sort through all the crap at the thrift store to find a good shirt that fits well and is in decent shape...i don't buy too much stuff anymore, too expensive and time consuming....the funny thing is later in life i started to do the same thing with 60's/70's rock i missed like Love, The Move, Gary Glitter, T-Rex, etc, and even stuff like old rod Stewart/Faces, Jeff Beck/Yardbirds, Beach Boys, Stones, Neil Young, Sly stone, etc, and i dig that stuff just as much, in some cases, more...it's like i can appreciate good, basic rock 'n roll more after going through all the more extreme stuff...and i recently discovered a band you guys might of heard ...the Beatles?

yeah...they're actually a proto-industrial band, they have a piece "#9, #9, #9"...that's pretty beatless....

i was at a bar one time and this guy kept playing the worst modern country crap-tunes on the jukebox, they had the white album on there so i played " rev.number 9" and i said"if you don't stop playing that crap i'm going to put 10 bucks in there and play it over and over for the rest of the night"...it worked!

Erm.. the most whimisical was Hotel Costes Volume1... which I bought cause it was playing in a shop in amsterdam and I thought it sounded good...
and it was... and I still love it..

hehe cool.to be honest i do like the beatles(not the early mersey beat stuff mind,just too darn poppy for me)but the more psyche stuff they did was awesome
and day in the life is an amazing piece of cinemusic

across the universe is the BIG tune from them for me at the moment

The Kingsbury Manx first release on Overcoat recordings.

Having picked it up to read the sleeve and checkout the artwork it just seemed to feel right, looked right& the titles of the songs were good.
Still an awesome album.

Oh and this home made cassette tape I got from a junk store back when I was a kid, awesome, and freaky, turns out it was Meddle by Pink Floyd. Fantastic album.

i actually heard liabach's version of "across they universe" first of their "let it be" record...i love that one and "one after 909"? i think that's what it's called...i'm still somewhat green with the Fab Four...i'm digging a lot of George stuff like "It's All Too Much", easy to see the influence they had on the german bands....

Lots of rap good records: Ice Cube, NWA, Pubic Enemy, Run DMC, Beastie Boys

All Autechre albums (except maybe Confield) - always takes me a while to dig them, though.

Misses:

Weezer's latest album (Make Believe) - I love all their previous albums but this one is crap IMO.

Lots of crap rap records: anything Das EFX made after Straight Up Sewaside, anything Wu Tang Clan after 36 Chambers, the list goes on.

Oooh, I love that album. People seem to be in love with Fear Of Music or Remain In Light because Eno produced them as if everything Eno records is worth its weight in gold [he's done some crap too]. Don't get me wrong, they are great albums but [/i] IMO '77 has better songs.
