I haven' seen many threads where the same isue is common..meaning, this software is pretty damn stable. Go to steinberg's forums and read for days about the MIDI sync issue. And Cubase is a great host.

I just like getting an update now and then, because so far for me Tracktion is the most stable host I have.

there are no bug threads anymore, because all bugs are reported and it seems like the users in this forum aren't many new users. so if you like, i could report every day a bug and a needed but missing feature can't have any bugs ;)

yeah...ANY software company forum that's software is really unstable will have a lot of bug posts. To say it is slow here because they already have been reported is simply naive. Like I said, just take a tour around KVR. I use a ton of different hosts, but Tracktion is the one at my home studio, and I love it. I was just at big studio for a mastering project, and I talked to the owner about T. It came up because they were having a hell of a time installing sonar 4 on a laptop..you know, with the wrapping and all that stuff.

So I brought it up, and he said he doesn't doubt for a second that it is just as good as anything else for VST based music.

A lot of problems happen becaue people don't have a computer that is a DAW and nothing else. They have AIM, and internet browsers, and all kinds of stuff that should not be anywhere near a host.

in an ideal (and well-funded) world yeah ... but my machine does all those things and more and VERY rarely gives me problems from a DAW point of view ...

... just need to do your research ... exercise some common sense ... and be careful ...

sorry but that's bullshit - that's the sort of bollox people tend tell you who actually have no clue about computers/systems despite acting as if they had...

programmes that don't run usually don't give problems and they surely don't eat any memory/cpu-cycles
(and even if they run it's in the case of browsers/firewalls/etc. just a tiny little bit)
- there's no real reason not to have games/browsers/office-programmes and all kinds of other stuff installed on your system!

Surprised no one has mentioned it yet. In a recent post, Jules said development was being done by a group of smart guys® in Victoria, BC. This explains the seemingly endless dev cycle.

Not only do Mackie have to make T stable and simple to use for musicians. They have to, because of a Victoria city bylaw, make it Tourist-proof! Do you know hard that is? Did you think the new colour editor was for us? No way! It's for the tourists. To allow them to match their vacation DAW to their gawdy clothing and give them a feeling of navigational competency, no matter how illusionary.

However, the good news is that Tracktion will be the first DAW to have built-in GPS capability and will be bundled with hundreds of coupons good for discounts on meals, accomodation, ant-farm tours, cheezy bricabrac and pseudo royal memorabilia!

See, it's going to be worth the wait. The Victoria Toursit Bureau has very high standards. We should be greatful. Audio tourism is the future!
perception: the stuff reality is made of.

I know plenty about computer systems, don't insult me just because you don't agree.

I think what you said is ridiculous, but im not going to get personal about it.

I'd much rather use a computer that is offline and DAW only, but hey if you want extra stuff, go for it.

I have seen plenty of issues due to USB crashes, internet trojans, spyware, antivirus..etc..but Im sure you are all knowing.

not sure whether youre speaking to jens or me but ...

... all knowing and speaking from experience are two VERY different things ...

not you ..you didnt say anything derogatory at all. and useres like you who really know their machine..lets be honest..are not rampant in the host world.

I'm not sure what trojans and spyware have got to do with browsers or antivirus software...
