So anyway, with people like you, i've absolutely no chance to get a penny... but this is something i understood since the beginning of this so much usual discussion... that's why i did it with humour !

hi hi hi !

Well, the problem is, it is not really funny. I had a look at your website and the dongle you're using even seems to be a proprietary one, i.e. only useable for your products. Is that correct? If not ignore the following rant:

Ok, so now I already have a codemeter dongle for Samplitude and it was a tough decision to get it but I wanted Samp. Ok, so far the cm dongle hasn't caused any problems on my machine in a good year of having samp. But now I qualify for the free upgrade to AT2 which uses a synchrosoft dongle, so dongles will eat two of my usb ports then.
Now let's assume I wanted to get some of the URS stuff, which is said to be quite good: Oh, bugger, they use ILok so I'll need a third dongle, arghhhh. Now I want the strip tools v2 and v3 and here comes my fourth dongle...
Sorry, but this is insanity, and I am not even willing to try out a plug under such circumstances.

Vincent Burel wrote:well, you said to me that you won't buy dongle.
I said that I won't USE a dongle. I never said that it had to do anything with the price.
But all my product needs this dongle to work.
So I tried to make it clear to you that you've just lost a prospective customer because your plugins REQUIRE a dongle, NOT because that dongle cost a few bucks.
So what to do ? I'm not a commercial guy, i'm not a vendor or bizness man who will convince you to buy something from me. I'm just an artisan.
Now here's a novell idea: you could have tried to have a constructive discussion with me about it instead of treating me like the next warez-kid here on the forum. It's called 'showing a little bit of respect', the same thing I was doing to you untill the moment you decided to end a respectfull conversation.
How i ve to consider people who use my freeware since years and explain me that they never pay for my product because a 50$ dongle !? with humour. isn't it :-)
Read my initial post. I haven't used your freeware before. I've always used Orion which has GREAT channel EQ. Just recently I've started using SONAR and.... well, read my initial post

You also won't understand that it is NOT about the cost of a dongle. It's about a choice not to use any dongle. It isn't even about you or your plugins. It's about YOUR decision that we should use a dongle that does not bring any advantage to the user. It's about YOUR decision to put the burden of YOUR anti-piracy scheme on the customer. It's about me, as a prospective customer, to decide NOT to go for that.

As I said before, you asume a LOT..... but you seem to (want to) understand very little :?

_niko_: Grab yourself yellowtools gear & then you can have another dongle for a quintet :D
With this one you get a lazer etched metal case to keep it in a show all your friends
Maybe if you collect enough of them you can start playing swapsies.
Dongles - the new pokemon!!!!! Soon all the kids'll want 'em.

get a grip , guys.

vincent has given us a great free plugin. thank you Vincent :-)

someone complains because he chose to protect his work with a dongle (like so many other devs)

vincent has a laugh, on the assumption that if you've already told him you'll never be a customer, why bother being nice. a-ha !! :hihi:

a riot ensues.

people start calling names :uhuhuh:

3 or 4 dongles is insanity :-o
that's quite a sharp cut-off point there. :D

well I admit I was a bit rude, but I really hate the way mr burel dealt with crimsonwarlock.
whatever, it's not only having a hub full of dongle look at other kvr threads, for all reasons some of us don't want to deal with a dongle.
then dongle or not, activation or not, good plug in or not, I m not sure the attitude of Mr burel was disrespectful.

ok, and then ! you want to buy my product without dongle ? :-)

question of money or not, what is the difference for me ?

Ok, but a constructive discussion about what ?

That's why, this discussion is a little bit absurd, i'm selling plug-in with dongle. like other sell a soup with a plate, TV with tuner inside or whatever...
but you seem to (want to) understand very little :?
I've a little brain, and it's a little bit slow... so it's difficult :-) BTW i'm not born yesterday, and i understand how it's boring for the user to use DONGLE. But that you cannot understand is the rage i flew into, when in the year 2000, i've been obliged to make a hard protection on my plug-ins...

Yeah, that was bound to happen, wasn't it

Actually none of this is ok, these things are nothing but a pain in the ass, if you ask me. I never wanted to use one, gave in when I got Samp, and when I upgraded the Amplitude LE that came with my laptop soundcard, to Amplitude full, it wasn't clear that AT2 would use a dongle.
So, yeah I am gonna order me a couple of these little hubs, so that I can use more dongles. Gimme, gimme, gimme...
You can't be serious :nutter:

I admit that this is not the fault of VB though, but a general problem in this market, but as a rather small company, it doesn't look like a wise decision to use a proprietary dongle, or do you think so?
Anyway I realize that you're quest is to defend Vincent here, which is fine with me, but honestly how many of 'em dongles do YOU have? Feel like getting some more?

Post

I have one , for cubase.

a quest to defend vincent is a bit extreme - I just thought he was funny and that the arguments were a bit, well, pointless

I wasn't really having a dig, _niko_ - you know I appreciate dirthead, I told you in your thread :-) - I was just having a laugh, too. albeit at your expense :hihi:

still pals ??? :-)

Post

Yep, of course ;)
Btw, I do appreciate your work too!

Whoever said Vincent Burel is a dumbass is a little out of line IMO. That's just my 2 cents there. :uhuhuh:

@Vincent Burel: Yes, I noticed there isn't a ton of demo material available...that's ok. To be honest i'm a little short on cash right now. So to demo them right now would just be teasing you and myself. :hihi: I really enjoyed striptool though, and You seem to have alot of confidence in the sound and quality for your plugs. Thank you for the information though, when i'm really in the market I'll definitely contact you about all of that.

Peace,

Frank

Well, I'm glad to see Vincent is still developing. The Striptool v1 sounds awesome, the EQ is amazing. I hope you get your site updated someday: it's a little confusing right now, and some links for "new" products lead to blank pages - I wasn't sure if the company was real or not, but now I know.

Is this dongle a standard iLok dongle, or is this incompatible? I really can't have 4-5 USB dongles running, it's abusrd to think it's OK for audio guys to have all those resources being taken up by USB hubs.

No criticizm intended, this is true mr. Burel. With so many devices in our studios being powered by our computer via USB, it's eventually going to slow us down if we need to have a hub excepting all of those extra dongles...I've got 4 USB 2.0 Ports that come with my board...i've added a small hub to accomadate more, but the point is, they're all still going to the same ports, and things are gonna start slowing down because of that. I'm not suggesting you drop the dongle, it's obviously working well for you, but It looks like your dongle doesn't use the iLok system, so I'll need to take up another hub using yours.

Could you confirm this?

Thank you
