Anything else like VB-striptool (free) ?

I'm used to have per channel EQ in Orion Platinum, but now I'm also working with SONAR and there is no per-channel EQ (as far as I can see). I have VB-striptool Free and it does exactly what I want and it has a compressor to boot. However, it also has a strip fader, gain control, and it is quite big on the screen. Above that the knobs don't rotate very easy with the mouse.
So here's my question: is there another free effect that gives at least a semi-parametric EQ (low shelve, one or two parametric mid-bands, high shelve). Compression would be nice to have but not specifically needed.
I recal having seen something like this but I can't remember what it was. Probably commercial I think.

Doesn't sonar have the ultrafunk sonitus eq included & integrated as a channel eq?

Not sure about these but possibly worth a look.

Maybe so, but I'm using SONAR LEdiverdee wrote:Doesn't sonar have the ultrafunk sonitus eq included & integrated as a channel eq?
I'll get a 'full' SONAR at some point but for now my budget is drained. So I'm looking to work with what I have so far. VB-striptool does what I need but it is just not that handy to work with.

That one was my first choice but the review posted for it says it's a little CPU-hungry so that cancels the idea to run 10 to 20 of them in a track.
I have that one but it is just a chainer (although very handy), so not what I need. I can chain effects in the SONAR mixerstrips already.http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1068.html (make your own ?)
Yep, that one might do the trick, but it is no longer available for download. I'll have to dig through my backup cdroms to see if I have it lying around somewhere, but I don't remember downloading it in the past.
So any other suggestions are welcome. I think any parametric EQ with 3-bands minimum will do the trick. I've already searched the KVR database but no luck so far.

OK, I just solved one part of the problem with striptool: the knobs didn't rotate very easy, their movement seems neither circular or linear. However, I just foud out that you can click on a knob and it gets a little red dot to show it's selected and then you can move it very precisely with your mouse-wheel. This is quite great
Also, playing around with it a bit more it is both very light on CPU and very transparent sounding. So I actually think it's hard to beat
I do remember there was another dedicated channel plugin being developed, I think it was commercial, but I can't remember what it was and I searched the KVR database for that one as well but didn't find it.

There was that niagaragain channel tool, but the last I heard that was still a demo/beta stage (twas a while ago) & the eq section wasn't fully functional.
A prodyon product I think?

you will be hard pressed to find a channel strip as good as the VB one. Heck, he wrote that ages ago and it is still as good as it gets. Very unfortuate for us that he doesn't keep up with the VST world.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

I completely agree. As I said, it is very clean sounding AND light on the CPU. As I found out the mousewheel trick I will stick with it untill something better comes around but indeed I'm not holding my breath for thatSJ_Digriz wrote:you will be hard pressed to find a channel strip as good as the VB one. Do you have plans to update the striptool series? Seeing that there are now so many hosts that lack good channel EQ and given the luxury to have a dedicated (low CPU) compressor on each channel I think many people (including me) would be interested in this
Are the original striptool versions still available for purchase ?

I've never seen any other plugin with as much control over the knob-behaviour as the VB-Striptool offers - right-click a knob for the various options...
