Disk clone ?

I tried following Ogg's instructions and ran into problems with making a simple clone. I'm pretty new to Linux so maybe i did something wrong but i doubt it as it's a simple proceedure. I didn't like that fact that there was no way of knowing how the copy was progressing and if it had finished. I left it for 4 or 5 hours and then the machine wouldn't respond to keystroke input. Anyway, the clone would boot but came up with a file duplication error.

I then tried connecting a CD drive and booting into Acronis True Image 11 recovery disc. I then instructed it to make a clone of the hard drive and it was finished in about 20 mins. The copy worked perfectly and I didn't even need to re-authorise any of my plugins.

FYI I used an identical Seagate 500GB drive to the one my Receptor shipped with but I would think you could clone a smaller drive to a bigger one and after it was finished use ATI to enlarge the storage partition (can't remember what it's called but looked obvious which one to me)
I haven't tried this so don't blame me if it doesn't work!
