I don't really care what ttoz thnks :hihi: midi in Samp is a lot better than people presume and the Drum Editor rocks . I think V9 will be quite a step forward as well.

Yeah, I love every aspect of samplitude (from what I've tried, including the MIDI editor.).
Also the wonderful object aspect of working with things, and to little things like the windowbars - the way you drag things bigger/smaller on it! Every thing is really a pleasure.
- But I cannot use such a sluggish VST resolution, because the first time I noticed this was when I had a parameter assign to the note-pitch and could not get the correct pitch!! No matter how hard I tried, there was not a chance to correctly set the parameter correct......I was in chock, and even bigger chock when I discovered that I was the only one noticing this.....

I've never been in chock before. Must be nice... ;) :D

Samplitude & Sequoia do look great though.
If I was stuck exclusively on PC I'd probably go this route (Samplitude) than any other DAW (Cubase, Nuendo, Sonar etc).

I woudn't have noticed that as I've mainly used Samp for heavy audio use 50/60 track projects and midi drum programing/editing using DFHS Superior .

Better than being in hock I guess :hihi:

it still looks like it will be sonar at this stage
I've tried various versions of the Sonar demo and I just found it tiring on the eyes with way too many nebulus looking icons .But I guess the look is customizable Like Samp is . Having checked out the midi editor it didn't seem to offer anything spectacular. Also the audio engine was pretty gappy in every demo . There seemed to be other issues like some tasks could only be done with the sequencer stopped or the menu items were greyed out if you tried certain things while it was running.
since samp will only put an 8.1.1 demo up and not the latest version i cant really judge the midi, but it was pretty weak in the version i tested.
What in particular did you find was weak about the midi? I'm under no illusions having used Logic for 10 years previously and Michael Hayden is a genius as far as I'm concerned .

Hi Kraznet, I doubt you remember me, but I used to own V8.2 of Samplitude, but sold it because I didn't like the MIDI implementation. I do hope they improve this feature and if they do, I might come back.

Hi Dennis,
Yes I remember you of course :) and I hope you are well. From what I hear there are quite a few midi improvements in V9. Rest assured I will be checking them out when the upgrade CD arrives and reporting here I'm sure. What host are you using now? I seem to remember you had Ableton Live .

Cheers
Kraznet

Has anyone here tried the SE version of V8? I'm looking for something simple and light to hold me over till eXT v2.

Thanks for the good wishes Kraznet, things are going well for me... I am currently using Live 5 and like it a lot. For my needs it works out fine. I also use WaveLab 4 for my audio editing but would like to have Samplitude for this.

Please do let us know how Sam's MIDI has improved after you get a chance to play with it for awhile.

Thanks for responding and best wishes to you and yours,
