on topic, It will be interesting if steinberg implements an "option". that should help, but steinberg has imho progressively gotten worse since sx2 time

please don't be prejudice and turn this into a national thing. it's not fair to base your opinion of all people from a given land based on the actions of one or even a handful.

I didm't get offended by that, i'm also proud of the past of my country, very proud indeed, even the bad bits are the coolest IMO.
Anyway Hanafih is great, he keeps bumping Steinberg threads.

For some people, especially with large projects, and lots of them, that could amount to a mountain of work, especially trying to save presets on some of those old plugs. Not something I'd look foward to personally, nor would I wan't to use any current bugged out VST-DX wrapper out there. And for Autotune users and old Waves users with the bugged out VST shell, that's not even an option.

How soon before somebody drops MIDI for their new proprietary protocol - miles better specs of course - and matching set of hardware controllers etc.

You can see the logic - to get uptake of the new Rol/Yam/Digi/App communication scheme you will have to kill that decrepit old dinosaur Midi otherwise no one will upgrade.

IMHO a good rule of thumb is that an "upgrade" to an existing piece of software should have backwards compatibility. If it doesn't, it's basically a new program, no? In this instance, Steinberg have not simply dropped DX - they have dropped "Backwards compatibility", which is the sting in the tail.

Also with the SONAR 6 update including proper full VST (at last!) and DX implementation, and with Logic having AU as well as VST, Cubase now loses its edge over key competitors. Surely an "own goal"?

to what "bad bits" are you referring and how could they POSSIBLY be cool in anyway... if you're american perhaps the systematic slaughter and takeover of tens of thousands of families and their lands is happy go lucky to you... or perhaps the enslavement of forced immigrants is a joke...

I dont find anything "cool" about it...

try tellin that one to logic users - hasnt been like this for a while - in fact arent osx upgrades like this too

and what version of logic has vst and au - answer none

au ONLY - but there is a solution - you use a wrapper !

Direct X support?
