Direct X support?

Are there any other Hosts planning to drop Direct X support other than Steinberg

Adobe seem to have downscaled DX support relative to VST. In the Cool Edit days, it supported DX only. Then VST was added, and in the latest version they have added VST automation curves, even though they have never bothered to do that with DX effects. So I cannot automate my Sonitus DX effects in Audition, but I can automate my VST plugs.

Everthing will eventually dump DX. Notice how some plugin mfg's stopped making them.

Not only would I not buy a Steinberg audio product, even if I bought C$ I wouldn't have any DX plugs to use on it. I don't really care much either way, but if I was pushed I'd probably go along with DX being dropped in the medium term. The issue is not the decision to dump DX. The issue is that Steinberg sold product without informing purchasers that it has dropped DX support.
Now some people are saying well, OK, what a really bad oversight. I don't think that'll wash. In the run up to the release of C$ every possible fantasy, dream, hope and utter bollocks was published on Cubase.not about what C$ would be, would have or would do. None but none of which was responded to in the least by Steinberg's forum mods or administrators. Wild horses would not drag a statement of any kind from their finger lips.
When C$ was announced an alert SONAR user, who read the full spec, noticed DX was missing, and speculated that the Borg had dropped it. An alert Cubase user, Drew Buchan asked at Cubase.not in this thread…

It really did look for one awesome, unimaginable moment that Steinberg would really, truly, finally get its f**king act together. Now, everybody knows, it's business as usual in Hamburg. This isn't 2001, and I think a major reversal of company policy will happen. But it won't happen, until the evidence that it must happen, is too painful to pretend otherwise. If I were a fanboy, I'd be screaming (like the old battle axes of Cubase.net are) for this decision to be rescinded - because I'd know just how much damage leaving it to fester will do to the company, the product and one's personal investment. I wouldn't go around doing a Rik Mayall oh who really cares number.

Chris doesn't know shit, so what? it ain't a support forum... support is at Steinberg.net.
Cubase doesn't support RTAS, AU and MAS, DXi has never supported too.
So DX in cubase was rather tolerated instead of supported.
Before releasing it, which BTW, is October 9th, they allowed people to download manuals et al.

Even if i change my mind i can send it back, sell, transfer the license... which i can't do with a lot of other hosts i own.

As for the second part of your statement, I have never seen Steinberg say that they don't "support" DX, only "tolerate" it. That's just a silly statement tbh.
Removing DX support without mentioning it to their customers is a pretty mean thing to do, and they certainly don't gain any respect from me for that.
Stag - the removal of DX support may not bother you, but some users will have invested in DX plugs over the years, and you could at least show them some sympathy rather than doing the fanboy thing.

It's still fully possible to run DX plugins in Cubase 4. It's just that Steinberg no longer includes the necessary wrapper with the application. Just use something free like Effect Chainer and off you go.
And besides, it makes more sense to not support DX since it's not a cross-platform format.

Did anybody ever find out what HanafiH's problem exactly is? The man has more posts on this forum putting down Steinberg than most members have altogether.
I wish I had that much time on my hands...
On a more serious note - I think it's quite naive to expect high ethical standards from any company with more than a few employees.

i very slowly begin to clear my system of DX, untill today i have none... no tempo sync, no automation... rather limited DX functionallity on SX.
I would like them to reinstated just to see people happy.
On a personal ground: I don't care much, i just don't use them anymore.
