great news (both the new module for v1 and the hints about v2), thanks for sharing!

v2 really should be suitable for realtime performance, otherwise i think truepianos would loose much from it's sexyness! when reading all the posts of (mostly very satisfied

users it's exactly this factor that sets truepianos apart from sample libs! i mean, there are still some that for mixdown choose ivory et al, but it's very nice if this won't be necessary anymore!

i'm really excited and looking forward! also for me, truepianos is the vsti i use and love most, and this was at a more than fair price - thank you so much for this!

Hi,

We are very aware that realtime performance (read acceptable CPU usage) is important so we're not rushing this. TruePianos v1.x will probably remain available for download after the release of v2 since current modules won't be available in the new product.

Not long after the release of the upcoming update I'll most likely be allowed to post some early recordings of TruePianos v2 on KVR which I'm quite sure will convince a lot of people that the progress we've made is huge at least.

Wow huge at least,must get my hands on this update, are the original buyers of the product like myself getting this update or will there be an additional charge either way i will be getting this.

Hi,

There will first be a new v1.x update soon. This update will be free for everyone. After that the next update will probably be the TruePianos v2.0 release. When that happens we'll start enforcing the '1 year free update period'. People who've bought TruePianos more than a year before the TruePianos v2.0 release will get a very fair offer on obtaining the right for a new full year of updates. As the price we'll charge for TruePianos v2.0 is currently unknown we've decided to delay on deciding the fee for this and not to strictly enforce this so called 'free update period'. TruePianos v2.0 essentially is a new product with a familiar name, not a simple update on TruePianos v1.x.

In short the upcoming v1.x update will be free for everyone. TruePianos v2.0 will have the 1 year of free updates period rule enforced. In the case that there be another v1.x update after the upcoming one I'm not sure what we'll do yet.

We want satisfied customers which is the highest priority and whatever path we'll choose we'll make sure it can be considered as 'fair' as possible without making early adopters feel bad.

i've been holding off on getting truepianos simply for lack of features. imo pianoteq still beats truepianos in many ways so i look forward to hearing fully about version 2 as that will almost certainly be the deciding factor.

Hi,

We provide 'imaginary' playable pianos. This is true for TruePianos v1.x and will be true for TruePianos v2.0 even though the sound will be a lot more realistic. We will never claim to simulate a certain exact type of piano, nor will be provide a building block to design your own from scratch. So don't expect being able to design exotic type of piano-like or even seemingly unrelated type of instrument from within the GUI.

TruePianos v2.0 will very likely be released some time this year and if you need a piano that suits your needs at this moment I wouldn't suggest waiting for it if TruePianos v1.x isn't good enough for you at the moment.

What features are you hinting at if I may ask ?

How do I know when my purchase was? I have my original email but it's in a backup Outlook file somewhere since it was on my old computer. How do I know where my year ends?

a little bit of reverb would be nice and an adsr envelope aswell, those two features are things that i have used on sampled pianos. i've only used the demo so i dont know what the extra modules are like but i do like the simplicity and playability of truepianos

I hope that Roel won't mind me revealing that a reverb is coming soon. As for the envelope - you have a release control in TP, which is sufficient unless you want to make the envelope significantly different than a real piano.

Still, TP is not really about features, but playability. It may not have all the bells and whistles, but I don't know many plugins that are as much fun to play - and in general, not just among piano VSTi.
