On my duo-core the public beta standalone works o. K.
- Reaper does not find the uvi workstation
- Cubase SL3 find the uvi workstation during VST-scanning, but then break off the program start.
It is bad. I must uninstall the uvi workstation

I'm not sure how to word it.
The uvi engine has given many folks grief, if this is USB like plugsound pro and such, I'm not surprised at the problems.
I wish there was a perminent sticky on these guys and what they have done to paying customers (I'm in about 450 usd with the stuff I bought, but there are hundreds who are pissed)
I would plead that anyone else please do not be guinea pig for this experiment.

Some of the demo sounds are actually from the original UVI Player that had free sounds(NOT Plugsound Free, but the later one).hibidy wrote:question, does this have anything to do with the ultimate sound bank company?
Also, somebody asked who was able to get it to show in Sonar. I didn't. It wouldn't even come up in the available plugins to add to the menu. It just crashed and next time around considered it a "failed" plugin so it didn't try to scan it again until I checked the box to "Rescan failed plugins".

That's the plan regarding the use of PlugsoundPro Sound and other UVI Soundcard like Synth anthology.MacQ wrote:Instant crash of FL8 here, too. Nice to see a re-written graphics system, since the last one was buggy as shit on every PC I tried.
Hopefully this thing will actually get bug-fixed, so I can use my Synths Anthology and Plugsound Pro sounds ... since I did pay for them. Usually when a "public beta" is announced, that's after the "internal beta". But then, what do I know?

Regarding the internal beta, there was a pretty one.
The VST PC issue should be a stupid thing and will be fixed as soon as possible (hopefully today)

We have rewrote everything for this new software.hibidy wrote:I'm not sure how to word it.

Both UI and audio engine.
We are now using Juce as our UI toolkit and this should fix all the PC graphic related issues.
Regarding the audio engine, it's way faster and way more stable.
If you prefer, just wait for the final release, but we have preferred that after an internal beta test to do a public one to catch more issues before releasing the official 1.0.
Fixing those kind of bugs before the final release is our top priority.

Ok, it's working as a plugin under Logic 8 but I could easily reproduce the crash beej mentioned. Switch filter to LP, then try to switch it off -> Poof!
I'm mailing the crashlog as we speak.
Seems to be crash city for almost anybody so far.
However, from what I can tell so far, I find the demo content to be a bit limited, especially considering it's a whooping 400+ MB file.
Also, I'm not sure whether I'm too much impressed by the sound mangling options. Most likely not - but I'd have to give it another try to be sure.
And finally, how would I get rid of the PACE extension, should I want to? The installer starts a second installer setting up the PACE extension, and there's a note saying I should open the PACE installer mpkg and use the provided uninstaller. Just that there's no dedicated PACE mpkg or anything.
I think that this is something very critical and even if I may find out how to remove the extension, I can assure you that things like that will put quite some people off. There needs to be a dedicated uninstaller and after performing the uninstall my computer should be as clean as a baby's ass.

We can't add it in our installer because other apps may use those interlok extension like Protools.Sascha Franck wrote: And finally, how would I get rid of the PACE extension, should I want to? Not sure for example that digidesign remove those when you uninstall Protools, but it's digidesign so
However I think you can grab an explicit PACE extension uninstaller from PACE.

Anyways, in that case you should come up with a link for people who may want to uninstall PACE.
I'm sure I can find it (if there is one) or get rid of the extension otherwise, but I still think it'd be in your best interest to make both installing and uninstalling a flawless experience, even for the less computer challenged folks.
For now, I'll keep it installed and see what you folks come up with in the next beta.
Fwiw, my crashlog should be in your inbox already.

Tristan great to hear from you - I'd honestly though you guys were out of the business. Even your kvr forum seemed to disappear. I emailed you guys asking if you were still in business and didn't get a reply. Tell me, When, or CAN, we still expect BEAT inc????? Many of us have been anxiously waiting. Will it be written with this new engine you speak of? Also, there was supposed to be a library that came out with very expressing instruments. What about that?????

We're just very very busy guys.
We were very annoyed regarding PlugsoundPro and especially PC issues.
We knew that we couldn't come up with a quick fix as the main problem was related to UI compatibility issues linked to the OpenGL use and that meant to rewrote the whole UI so we have preferred a radio silent. Sorry about that.
This whole rewrite is now done as well as a faster and more stable audio engine.
Regarding current UVIWorkstation issues, I will say that's why it's still beta
Concerning Beat, I can only say that we are working on it, it will used the new engine and is way more powerful that we first wanted to do, so it takes way much time.
Regarding very expressing instruments, if you meant the IRCAM solo instrument then it should be release shortly.

Fwiw, the thing is stealing some keycommands under Logic 8. So far I noticed backspace isn't working as long as the UVI GUI is opened - even if backspace doesn't seem to actually do something.
Further, I'm sure this could be a great REX player but I had no sound from a couple of loops once I mapped them and dragged the MIDI file into my arrange, for no apparent reasons (I always used "slot" 1 and didn't change anything regarding MIDI settings or so). Gotta invest a bit further into that once the new version is ready to be downloaded.
