This means that ReWire reports : "Unable To Load DLL".

Did you try any other ReWire master applications?
I tried to load Bidule in Reaper and vice versa, but in effects, I don't even find "Rewire"! - Either I must be doing something wrong or there's something wrong with my Mac! :-o

Any suggestions?
Calum reported a similar problem earlier on page 1 of this thread. He reinstalled Reason and things were fine then. Maybe some ReWire library version conflict..?
Yes, happened to me twice trying out different rewire devices. Second time round, I did a search (and remove) for rewire and re-installed Rewire 1.7 from this link (works for PPC as well as Intel Macs:

All at your own risk, of course!

The updated MU.LAB test D for OSX is now working with all patches and Rewire is still working as expected. I have also managed to get MultiVST Shell (with help from the developer) working as a Rewire device in MU.LAB. I will post a link to an updated version of MultiVST Shell and a tutorial on setting it up if I get the developer's permission.

You may be wondering why I am trying out so many VSTi hosts rewired to MU.LAB when MU.LAB already has VST support. I will email you about this separately - you have probably guessed what's coming!

It was the MU.LAB 1.1 demo session.

So if you still have 1.1 on file somewhere..:

Load that session in 2.0x, and save, then you can load it in 2.4 Test.
I would like to have several demo songs, among those "Knight Rider", included in MuLab! :D
Well, for you ask it so nice and friendly :D -> See next package.

MU.LAB 2.5 has been pre-released.

The packages are available at:

OSX: http://www.mutools.com/mulab/mulab-25-pra-osx.zip
WIN: http://www.mutools.com/mulab/mulab-25-pra-win.zip

If you already have installed a previous 2.4 Test version, you could just extract the new application file and put it in your MU.LAB 2.4 folder.

2 little changes:

* Tuned: MU.LAB Free only streams ReWire devices in 1 mono channel.
That's much better than having no ReWire in the Free version.
MU.LAB Unlimited supports all available ReWire audio outputs.

* Fixed: When browsing Synthia/MuSynth/... patches with the arrow up/down keys, the keyboard focus was lost after each patch load.

These packages should be rock solid, and ready for release.

If you would encounter anything wrong, please send feedback!

Thanks!

Do I have to have 'Reason' installed for to use ReWire? - Some years ago, I was using Bidule in rewire mode on a ppc Mac without any 'Reason'! :-o

Why do Mulab's synths don't support Midi program change ? It's very handy to go trought presets via PC when you have a midi controler with a dial.

No, MU.LAB doesn't require that.

But since you have ReWire probs and the prob is similar to what Calum reported, i thought i make that suggestion.

The main reason is that the MU.LAB synths work with a disk-based patch system.

So the library could contain 10 or 100 or 1816752 patches.

This makes it more difficult to use program changes.

But i see your point and have taken notice on the whishlist.

I noticed last night that some of my VST plugins no longer load in MU.LAB 2.5 - Yellow Tools Independence Free and Korg M1 LE. There may be others but I did not have time to check. They definitely work in MU.LAB 2 but I am not sure about the MU.LAB 2.4 tests. I can check this evening.

Indeed, there seems to be an issue somewhere with VST on OSX.

In 2.0 i can load Massive demo, in 2.5 not :(

Researching this...

Also some other issues were reported by email (thanks!), which will be researched as well.

Which means the 2.5 release is postponed for a couple of days.

As we want to release MU.LAB 2.5 in good shape!

Meanwhile, the PreRelease (see earlier message) should be quite productive already ;)

Still looking forward to your email ;)

MU.LAB PreRelease B is available as a patch from:

OSX: http://www.mutools.com/mulab/mulab-25-prb-osx-patch.zip
WIN: http://www.mutools.com/mulab/mulab-25-prb-win-patch.zip

Just replace the current PR-A application file by the new application file in this zip.

This version should resolve possible problems while scanning certain vst plugins.

Calum, can you please confirm that the VSTs you reported are loading fine now.

Cheers,

Jo

Yes, they are all loading and working as expected. I have also noticed that in this version MU.LAB no longer crashes when it encounters a plugin it does not like when adding VST plugins with the VST Plugin Manager. :)

Ok, thanks!

There was indeed a small change in strategy when scanning vst plugins, due to the integration of ReWire.

Theoretically the new strategy was ok, but vst plugins are oh so damn sensitive, and each interpreting the vst sdk in its own way.

Anyway, glad it's resolved :)
