I have been commissioned to write a bunch of antigrain code for a client, so I am using blok as a primary testplatform for that. Which pretty much means "working on it". I wont release it until it is fully on par with the current gdi+ build though... So I cant give a fixed deadline. For the guy that asked about the mac version - getting rid of GDI+ is the main hurdle for the mac version as well, so maybe things might happen sooner than I think they would.
I have a few prototype gui things running that show a remarkable speedup (also on windows!) and an improvement in visual quality. I might even go all out and make the interface vector-zoomable.

This patch would "kill" most CPUs (expcept a Quad Core) when done in AAS Tassman 4 (e.g. with my HyperOSC Extreme synth for Tassman):

No problem with Blok. A chord (3 notes) takes around 3-4% at my Core 2 Quad Q6600 CPU.
UPDATE:
Here is a basic FM patch (this is real FM BTW):

When will the intro price expire? Hope the additional polyphony gets added before the price rises.

the latest update (v300) -has- the polyphony
updated to 16 voices max. (use the polyphony settings block in output category)
The intro price will be raised after I get a few more advanced features done (*cough* like an actual manual*cough*)
this is a small test of what I am currently working on -> ripped out the entire GUI kit and replaced it with my own crossplatform equivalent (yes this means easier transition to mac too!). http://www.blokmodular.com/dev/blok-wit ... test-5.zip This is a standalone gui test. No sound. Not feature complete yet, not pixelperfect yet either. But a LOT faster/smoother than before!

BTW with 1 voice (mono) you could select "1" or "1, legato" so the "legato mode" which i asked for is finally there too.

I keep the changelog online (straight from my version control) in case you are really curious what changes between the versions - http://www.blokmodular.com/changelog.php
My own dev version is now at 307.. but it is not finished enough for release yet.

Thanks, that's good news.Zephod wrote:For the guy that asked about the mac version - getting rid of GDI+ is the main hurdle for the mac version as well, so maybe things might happen sooner than I think they would.
I'm sure you'd be able to get over 300 mac users. It's got a great price point too btw.
I'll try the demo out on my windows unit for now.
(my pc is too old for any kind of music production, so...)

Just got Blok for a few days and already two new versions snce then which fixed crashes i had and now include new features. That's what i call an awesome support !!Zephod wrote:I keep the changelog online (straight from my version control) in case you are really curious what changes between the versions - http://www.blokmodular.com/changelog.php

BTW, is it possible to include a module for Modwheel and/or Aftertouch modulation somehow? I guess this module would only need a single control knob for the amount of modulation (which could also be done with a "Resize" module).

Yes, I'll add them for the next public release.
Do you have monophonic or polyphonic aftertouch on your keyboard? (does any keyboard currently sold even have polyphonic aftertouch?)

Monophonic aftertouch (=Channel aftertouch) for sure. Thanks for implementing it. I add aftertouch control on most of the lead sounds which i program with other synths, mostly for vibrato.Zephod wrote:Yes, I'll add them for the next public release.

I got a question about the new monophonic legato:
I take for example two notes like C3 and D3, play first C3, hold it and move to D3 it sounds like it should but when i release D3 (while holding C3) the sound stops after the decay ended. Same when i first play D3 and the C3. AFAIK with legato the sound should not suddenly stop in this case if i'm not wrong (no matter if it's first or last note priority). In real analog synths there is also either first note priority (i think in the ARP 2600) and last note priority for this (i guess in the Minimoog).

Ok, monophonic aftertouch it is
I have been thinking about keeping track of all the notes in the keyboard buffer for legato, but I've not yet really decided on "optimal" yet
this is what i've been feeling would be the most likely behaviour ->
player plays C F E
(holds all)
note will sound like E now
player releases E.
note moves to F
player releases F
note moves to C
seems the most logical (last in, first out queue)
but doing them analog style "highest pitch, first out" might be fun too... in the end it is just about selecting a nice compromise.. I want to keep Blok simple/fun without overcrowding the interface with 20000 buttons to select the ultimate legatomode and write custom script arpeggios... (i'd love that!)

Sounds like the classic "last note priority" which would be perfect for me (much better than "first note priority").Zephod wrote:Ok, monophonic aftertouch it is

For me it took much longer, around 15 minutes...audington wrote:Bought this plug this morning after playing with the demo for 5 minutes, love it!
