Max
Thanks for the update !
But
I been wanting to write it a few messages ago and erased it... and now I am sure, after upgrading to to
version (1.03) :
There is some problem with the installer. installing the plug over the previous version F*^&cks something
in the way. right after the installation (Cubase 5.1.1 here) and lounching the plug - the plug won't lounch.
it will freeze and with it - the whole system (forcing you into a hard restart). you (we) have to uninstall
the previous version every time.
Just wanted you to know...
The 'mouse-over' frequency/level readout is GREAT. now, if the plug could just remember global settings (i.e
not lounching the preferences box each and every time the plug's interface is launched and remember predefined
settings) it will be PERFECT !
Thank you SIR, this is an AWESOME plug !

Professional technicians are assessed by the abilities they possess.
Amateur technicians are assessed by the tools they possess - and the amount of those tools, with an obvious preference to the latest hyped ones.

Thanx a lot!Max M. wrote:Spectrum Analyzer updated to version 1.03.
This quick update only adds the 'mouse-over' frequency/level readout (in its simplest form: no options, no customization).

Max M, are you saying that it is NOT FFT-based analyzer? That you used band-pass filters, actually? (Please say you did
)
To all of you who's asking for more bands. Guys please, if you need an analyzer to search for some signal artifacts then use FFT one. There are plenty of them around. What Max M. did is rather RMS analyzer (as I understand it) and personally I'm impressed how it works in this department. Having more band will only mislead you.
Cheers,
Vitaly.
P.S. Max M, how about adding a small button for preference menu somewhere on the analyzer's GUI. So, when you need preferences, you just click on the button.

Yes, indeed, this is a non-FFT-based analyzer.
Yes, indeed, this is a non-FFT-based analyzer.
Strictly speaking the filters used are not plain bandpass filters (as those are just not optimal to use), but it's a more or less (more precise I believe) equal machinery inside. So yes, it would be correct to designate the plugin as a "bandpass based" analyzer after all. That you used band-pass filters, actually?
Well, that's not quite accurate to say, the "RMS analyzer" label would be a misleading (simply because a FFT-based analyzer is sort of capable of RMS too, and this is not really the key distinction). Just "A Bandpass Based" is a more regular/widespread keyword I guess (though it sounds a bit awkward). Some guys also call it "analog modeled" ;) (and this is pretty fair actually, but too hyping these days). What Max M. did is rather RMS analyzer (as I understand it)
See page 2 here. By now I already almost decided to rework it in the upside-down way (no clue about "when" though).how about adding a small button for preference menu somewhere

Hallo Max,
seems there's a bug in Cubase 5.
Sometimes it crash Cubase during the load of your analyzer.
It freeze Cubase. I have to close Cubase with the taskmanager.
But it crash not always. But it has not to do with the installer like Tp3 mentioned.
I had this problem also with previous versions of your analyzer.

Thanks. I keep looking for the problem source. This seems to be one of those misterious bugs that hard to reproduce intentionally. (I still can't. It seems to depend on some "elsewere" settings/configuration or whatever. maybe. Ookh... Let's hope we'll rule it out eventually).
By the way, is it happening only when you load it into insert or also when you just launch its windows (after it is already inserted)?

This time around its upon INSERTING the plug (not even opening it's GUI)
I did have, though, some synth maker plugs open (Bootsie's NastyLF x 3 and Nebula x 2), FWIW
Uninstalled, waiting for an update
