The Elektrostudio pack. It's unbelievable that it's freeware. I know it wasn't intended to be, but still... it is!

Also, anything free by ugo. Especially Rez 2.0. I love that little beast.

Minimogue LUXUS and de la mancha's FMMF too.

not a synth... but well Vember audio short circuit 2 is just to good to be free, it replaced both Battery & Kontakt for me.

ZynAddSubFx tops my list. I wouldn't be surprised to see a synth of it's caibre to be sold for €350 at least. The GUI is kinda sucky, but once you go below the surface it is a hell of a good VSTI! Many sounds of my upcoming SuperCore expansion comes from this beast.

Free Alpha/Alpha may have been ok in their day. But even back then the sound was plain and bland, on it's own, and espeically when compared to analog, which is what a VA attempts to emulate by it's very definition.

what is the one synth you cant believe is free?
