It depends on how well the 3rd synth in the Berlin Modular bundle (with Bazille and ACE XL) turns out. We've been tossing concepts, but no code was written yet. I expect a price between 200 and 250 USD, with an 85$ discount for ACE users.

The currently preferred solution is a slightly more simple modular synth akin the System 100m which gears towards ease of patching rather than multifunctional Übermodules. Which would also be the choice for a lesser price because it's less development time/cost than e.g. a sequencer based synth or the original idea of a synth with a massive multifunctional oscillator.

Releasing the synths unbundled was also in the realm of possibilities, but that's hard to follow up with the promise of a fully recoupable ACE (maybe if ACE gives a 30$ discount on each)

We'll see...

Hi folks

I've only fairly recently become a u-he fan and Zebra2 owner, and I'm also relatively new to patch programming. Consequently, my appreciation of certain patches is based overwhelmingly on my gut feelings about them and very little on my knowledge of the undoubtedly clever programming trickery going on in some of them.

Anywho, I thought that were some really great patches in this selection and it was quite tricky narrowing it down to 5 … nonetheless, that's what I've done…

1: Circuit Touch
I found this patch pretty mesmerising. The 'evolving malfunction' vibe really floats my boat and the bass tones sounded great on my sub with all the top end stuff chirping away at the same time. Lovely.

2: Far East Fields Before the Storm
I don't know how this sounds like it does (and I have tried to figure it out!) but it sounds great. The verb type effect is lovely and works beautifully with the Asian vibe. I really like the extra dimension that tweaking the MW gives with the addition of the first two OSCs. Also, extra credit due for such a picturesque and appropriate name.

3: Seq - Robots Attack 1
I really liked the movement of this patch - using the MW as it pans from side to side is well nice. It's the kind of sequence that I could imagine myself hearing in some kind of computer game boss stage.

4: Polygonal
Just very, very enjoyable to play -- it's like tweaking a synth spring. I really enjoyed the vibrato you can get by adding the MW at note off. Boing!

5: Rymora III MW
Great little minimal sequence. Love the pitter patter of short sine waves and the feeling of electric rain it creates (that sounds quite weird, doesn't it?).

Welcome! There's nothing wrong with this method of preference. Howard Scarr has several factory patches that use 1-2 modules and almost no modulation and yet they're stunningly beautiful sounds. Often times simple can be beautiful too.

1. Far East Fields before the Storm (perfect title and beautiful because it's ambiguous)
2. Baby Robots Try To Sing (great fun and very clever - it's almost Cornelius)
3. Pad - Endless Grid 3 (nice programming here with good variety of textures)
4. rymora III MW (classic Berlin minimalist - useful for a range of things)
5. Circuit Touch (very appealing use of random noises)
