Cubase 6.5 runs fine in Windows XP (including Retrologue), therefore, I see no reason for Retrologue not to.Teksonik wrote:Hmmm no demo and my OS is not officially supported. I guess I could just roll the dice and see if it works on my Win Xp machine. Price is excellent and the audio demos are nice. Not too crazy about the eLicenser but at least it doesn't require a Dongle.....

It's a cut down version of the HALion 4 VA engine. Retrologue just provides all the basics with fixed ADSR's. If you want something more than that then you're looking at the wrong product - Instead look at HALion 4.Kriminal wrote:Retrologue looks like a bog standard subtractive synth.....whats is it actually offerring at that ptice that i dont already have ?
I wouldn't recommed HALion Sonic because, although it provides the VA engine too, it confines the GUI to a very small area, and the full blown HALion VA engine really requires space. HALion 4 doesn't just give you space - it gives you a fairly flexible tabbed GUI which you can customize. I'd be surprised if the next Cubase GUI wasn't, at least partly, based on it.

But only for Windows, on Mac there is just VST3 or AUben_horwood wrote:Finally a VST2 version of Padshop too.erickUO wrote:Ah finally, a vst version of retrologue
I might have to seriously reconsider this now, since being VST3 only was the thing that was holding me back from purchasing it.

I'm also wondering about this. Without a dongle, can I reformat, install on a new computer etc. without limitations?filter303 wrote:Padshop is a really interesting product and the price is very good. Only thing I am not sure about is the copy protection. Is the elicenser some sort of C/R thing if you choose not to use the usb dongle?
What happens to the license if my computer gets broken and I want to install it on a new computer?
I don't fully understand how it works. Can anyone tell me?

Good (added) Value! Now you can get your steinberg key with your cubase licence inside and use 2 great VSTs with whatever DAW you like. Nice!

You just go the MySteinberg site, where you can request your new licence. Register first if you haven't already....JimmiG wrote:I'm also wondering about this. Are you missing anything from Zebra when you get Diva? Not really, in terms of features. So it comes down to the sound and whether you like what you hear. That, as I'm sure you're aware, is subjective and a question which can only be sensibly answered by yourself. My opinion? It's a nice VA. On the clean side without getting the mod matrix/distortion involved, and I don't think you'd be missing a huge amount without Retrologue given what you have.Kriminal wrote:im not looking for anything really, i just wondered if i was missing anything...i have dune, diva, zebra, albino, blah blah blah.....
In terms of HALion 4 then you'd be missing a bunch. The "full" VA engine Retrologue is based on is a 3 osc + sub, ring and noise, 8 filter models and (iirc) 24 different filter shapes, where 4 can be ran together at once. Then there's fully flexible envelopes (draw your own curves), including the ability to control modulation matrix curves, step mod, flex-phrase arp, a bunch of FX (of more value if you don't use Cubase, since they're based on those). Then there's the ability to add who knows how many layers in a single program, the ability to load 128 different programs at once which use those layers, control over how those are spanned across the keyboard, multi-core awareness (the only other VST I know that has this atm is Diva). I didn't get to the samples yet.. Suffice to say, different product, way more features, and something to look at if people quite like the Retrologue sound but want a lot more than a standard VA offers..

Yes apart from the preset browser being in a stupid place. Would be better if they provided the presets as aupresets.Neon Breath wrote:Anyone tried the AU version? Works well?
