deastman... where? Not in this thread he didn't.

He posted a vocal sound... 3 in fact... but I don't hear "Bazzilla", just vowels warbling.

And there's the rub. Some tasks require an investment of time, whether that be learning how a plugin works or getting an intelligible "Bazille" out of Zebra.

Is it gibberish? Maybe it got damaged in the transfer?

On my computer it sounds a bit so-so... but I'm not selling it, just proving a point. I could have ditched the keyscale... but it worked musically in the one octave so I left it.

The "zz" is a bit off ... so I admit that.

Do I need to make an audio file... ?

No, it's unlikely to have been corrupted during the upload download process.

If I squint my ears I can almost hear a very poor rendition of "mmvassissaa", but that's being very charitable.

I'm sure if you spent enough time on it you could get it right (and that's my point - some things take time).

Yep, you've proved my point. ;)

Listen, Hakey... no way am I going to polish a sound for a quick demonstration. It just dosent make sense.

Here's the sound in the register that worked best.

Not a question of polishing - it's about proving your point.

To do that you need to provide a patch that produces an intelligible (ie recognizable without prompting - none of this 'it says Bazillaaa') "Bazille".

Thus far you've failed to do that.

WANPAHHHHH.... WANPAHHHHHH...

Not that I could do better :hihi:

p.s. Vocal emulation is a very specialized task. I don't think it's the best way for proving the versatility of a synth. Most interesting musical sounds are probably going to have very little vocal qualities (at least ,on a timbral level). Just listen to the boring vocal-filtered patches in modern dance music and my point is proven. The interesting complexity lies elsewhere.

I would say my Bazille example sounds much more like an actual human voice...

Ooooooo the granola set is forming ranks.

Hakey, my lad...

Grow up.

I'm afraid you aren't taking into account the simple fact that while pdxindy is busy making pottery... while I am, at least, doing a fair job (2 days out of the hospital, no less) of proving my point. The raw syllables are in order and it's a better demo than pdxindy's vowely effort.

Jesus, it's my first attempt at this kind of patch at that.

Frankly the whole point was not beauty or pin-point syllabic accuracy, but to demonstrate how Zebra is a real world tool... that graphic tools make quick work of sound design, unlike older, more limited techniques (like MSEG vs ADSR or drawn waves vs. common OSC waves). I certainly will do more exploration... but I had something SO FAST I just went ahead and posted the results.

So pardon me, but your picky nature is not really called for here... in fact...

... I DARE YOU to make one to show me up.

C'mon, put up or shut up, Mr. know-it-all! :x

You're doing a good enough job on your own. ;)

Honest to god, that's what it sounds like to me. Even with prompting. But kudos for getting that far, I doubt I could even do that. I'd get bored and start making abstract sounds.

I must be losing my mind. Listening to his third sample on my phone, it sounded just like "Bazzilla" but now all I hear is woahwowohwowah... Guess I'd better lay off the crack pipe for a while!

The problem is that none of the raw syllables sound like the syllables you are supposed to be duplicating.

And FYI... You may mean it in jest, but I am starting to dislike the tone of your posts. I would enjoy a continued friendly exploration of features without the name calling. We are all comrades here in the exploration of synthesis! cheers...

I once tried to make my Nord Modular say "sushi", but all I could get out of it was "Suzie".
Then my wife demanded to know who Suzie was, and things got ugly...
