Well, I just prefer the Tone2 approach. There is no Saurus lite.

So, if I spend 150 bucks, I want to feel that I got something exclusive, so to speak.

I doubt it but you can go into your account afterwards and delete the card from your payment settings. Depends on your level of paranoia

I already have Dune Beat edition and CM, plus the full version. I was wondering what else is in the new issue.

I never bought version 1 because I hate their pricing policy. I feel cheated if I pay the full price when there is a lite version, and I hate lite versions as such. Thus I never got the full, nor the lite version 1.

If there is no lite magware version 2, I might get the full version, else none.

so you feel "cheated" because there's a light version you hate as such?
why you care about a lite version when "you hate lite versions as such" anyway?
and why you can feel "cheated" paying for a full version when the only alternative is a free light version you.. ..well "hate as such"?

Dude, seriously, even I know now the difference between U-He and Tone2 is like night and day There may be no Diva or Saurus lite (yet, ha), but they currently offer 5 other synths for free (each awesome in its own way); while Tone2's only "freebie" comes with a very intrusive install and they still sell commercial banks for that synth (peachy). I've asked them if they'd consider a CM/BE version for Gladiator (considering they're supposedly close to finishing G3), they didn't even bother to replay "yes" or "no". So please, don't put them in the same pot with U-He...


As for the whole argument, I wish every developer would adopt TubeOhm's policy: instead of an annoying demo that will add noise or cut sound off or go off key etc just release a free monophonic version to keep ppl busy and let them get to know your product(s); then offer them a convenient upgrade to the full version and you're done. I've had enough of the current "demo system" and will never download another. These guys need to wake up and find more creative ways to attract customers.

Dune BE/CM is so close in terms of sound quality and features to the full product that is scary. But I bet that gained them a lot of respect and customers. It's not easy to give (a lot) to take some benefit back, but you do need honey to catch some flies, so yeah, great freebies built customer loyalty and ease opening the wallets. My 2 cents anyway.

Dune V1 was around for a good while before the magware versions came out, so i dont expect there to be any free/lite version of V2 for a long time, if at all.

I dont think it matters anyway, you either need/want a product, or you dont. If you just collect stuff, use the free versions. If you are more serious, you will buy a product.

A demo will be available, so its an easy choice to make. (Rich prob has some offers in mind too....)

I would like the full version as I like to save effect settings along with the patches.
No, I don't collect plugins, I use very few plugins. But it would be nice to have one excellent sounding synth that my computer can take (unlike U-he stuff). But who knows, maybe version 2 will consume much more CPU as I read somewhere that it will have 0df filters and all that modern stuff...

In FL Studio, I would load a copy of the demo in three separate channels and layer them, then tune no 2 up 4 notches, and no 3 seven up. Playing a note would then trigger all three at once, which would then play a major chord

Yes, but does that sound the same? I guess with poly synths there might be quite some voice interaction in the filter and effects. But who knows, maybe not...

No, I am not complaining at all Actually, I do own a paid TubeOhm synth, AT to be precise Then again, it is ideal for leads and effects and uses a lot of CPU, so no interest in playing chords on it anyway...
