So how exactly does this crossgrade thing work? Do I buy Kontakt or Reaktor and then crossgrade to Komplete? Can it be that easy?

Here's what I'll be able to use out of it:
Monark
Battery 4
Prism, Spark and the "Retro Machines"
The 7 piece studio effects
The 16 sample libraries (well, I doubt it - but it's always nice to have sample libraries.)
I would also think going from Kontakt 4 to 5 would be useful? ;-)
Yeah, I meant to add that. If there's a main reason, that is it. Can't use no new libraries in Kontakt 4.

Except to be honest I mainly use Kontakt to set up and play my own samples so version is only applicable for planning ahead if I end up buying 3rd party Kontakt libraries. Which I haven't yet.

But yeah. Wow.
What do those black-and-white buttons do?

I took the plunge and upgraded from K7 to K9U. Not that I *really* needed to go Ultimate, but I've worked my ass off in the last weeks so I thought I'm in for a treat

Nice sale here: I also upgraded from K6 to K9.

Battery 3 is one of my workhorses, in fact the most important plugin inside my DAW. It's onscreen most of the time. Hoping v4 is a decent upgrade (very tired of the green GUI). I don't care much for the library, as my own sample collection is pretty freakin' awesome.

Kontakt 5 should be interesting. I'm a bit behind the latest innovations using v4.

Monark is what really sold me though. I've not been excited by such a simple and limited synth in a while.

The Giant, and some of the effects are free bonuses. The Scarbee organs and EPs seem cool; big fan of his work.

If you use Battery 3 to build your own kits a lot (which I do), Battery 4 will probably leave you scratching your head. NI simply removed a bunch of features that made kit building and tweaking on B3 such a breeze.

I'm glad B3 still works solidly on 32/64 bit with my current DAWs, and that it co-exists with subsequent versions on the same PC, because there's no way I'm downgrading to B4. (A real shame, too, because I also think the look of Battery 4 is much more appealing. Just wish it had the same features.)

Everything else that came new in K9/K9U was good to great, though.

Good for you.

I have no idea who you are but my pater is called Peter, so I feel like you deserve nice things... Wait, you're not my dad are you? :?

Not that anyone would ever pay this, but if you are trying to justify the purchase to yourself (or your spouse), the individual items that make up Komplete Ultimate 9 have an (alleged) full retail value of $7537. Someone more awake than me can check the math. Subtotals under each category.

Finally upgraded komplete 6 to K9U.. without VAT I paid 273 euros. I'd consider that quite a bargain considering how much new goodies I get. :D

It's even more awesome now that I have a Maschine Mikro mk2. I'm so happy by this superficial stuff that I feel ashamed.. it's not like I already had every plugin on the damn planet and now I have even more of em.

Cheers!

Such as? I'm curious as I did the crossgrade to Komplete for Kontakt and Battery 4 mainly.

The copy of REAKTOR which I bought on some sale for 99EUR qualified me to crossgrade to Komplete 9 for 199€... :-o :D

Same here except in USD. I originally just wanted Kontakt which was $125 but for $75 more I got Battery 4, Prism, Studio Drummer, Massive, FM8, Guitar Rig, and the mastering tools. That's more than a sweet deal!

No in-kit preview. No cell browsing. Selecting controls for the current pad no longer shows the associated value of the other pads in the kit. No longer indicates when a pad is receiving MIDI unless a sample's loaded in it first.

Yes Sir...

No doubt about it

NI Komplete is the definitive Happy Meal
No auto tune...

When editing pitch or volume envelopes, the underlying waveform is not displayed anymore. You can see either the envelope or the waveform, not both at the same time.
