You know. I think it's just safe to say...it can't be done in ace. Which is fine. I was just learning the instrument. I luv it. It is a blast and it sits so well in the mix and can do so much (timbrally?). I just use a lot of envelope amount and thought I might be missing something here. It's all good.

Well, it says I'm getting audio, but it's not audible yet. I'm going to experiment with this gate option for a minute and see what happens.

Ah! ok, In ACE, you need to invert the envelope modulation signal. This can be done with one of the Multiples. Here's how you connect it up:

The important part here is to place the output of the ADSR into the MOD slot on the multiple. You can then invert any signal coming out of the multiple by applying a constant signal (+5V) to either 3 or 4 on the multiple. Apply that signal wherever you want in ACE.

This isn't necessary anywhere there is a bipolar modulation target, such as the "lfo2" knob below the cutoff of VCF1.

Zebra does things differently, you can apply envelope modulation to any knob marked "...". To modulate OSC amp in Zebra it's as simple as the following:

Diva also has bi-polar modulation target knobs. ENV2 is even the default modulation source for the left filter cutoff modulator:

u-he tends to use the destination modulator knob to determine how much of the source signal to apply, and when bi-polar, to invert the signal or not.

This is really just scratching the surface. Modulators are your friend. :)

The Multiples in ACE are powerful little beasts. Whenever you connect a signal to the MOD input and ether/both of the 3,4 inputs the output from the multiple is actually the amplitude modulation of the MOD signal by the sum of the 3,4 signal.

The equation is (in the manual) as output = input * (1- modulation). The +5V signal is amplitude modulating the imput but constantly holding the modulation high at 5V, thus inverting the signal.

Yeah, it takes a bit to wrap one's head around the multiples. One of the most interesting device in ACE (And Bazille).

So because it's being held high...it starts @ 100%, then bounces itself in reverse. I'm visualizing this in my brain (veins popping every where, it aint pretty)...it's how I do math.

Haha. :) Just know that whenever you want to invert any signal in ACE plug the ouput into MOD on a Multiple and then add 5V to either 3 or 4 (and make sure the rightmost knob is at max). Done. :)

First: apologies to Dasheesh for getting snippy, and giving up on him too quickly - and thanks to you (Brian) for your patience.
Second: The inversion trick as shown in the large ACE snapshot above isn't necessary - simply patch ENV1 to cutoff directly, and set a negative amount. You did note this, but that image was so much bigger...
