Back to the M/S thing, if Waves and UAD don't do it your way, what makes your method better? I really don't understand it? I am not critisizing you, I just don't understand the advantage that Presswerk has. The Waves/UAD system seems so much simpler.

Thanks! There was a config issue with our WIN build server. An outdated revision was included as AAX.
-> Please do not download Rev 3169 if you like to test Presswerk with Pro Tools on a Windows-system.

We'll send a working build within the next ‘60 minutes.

I'm quoting the UAD manual, the 670 section:
"Channel Input Gain
This is a stepped attenuation control which always applies to
left or right input, regardless of the AGC control setting."

This was the same on the original unit. Can't speak for Waves here.

If we UAD are doing it the same as the original then Presswerk is the odd one out here.That quote from the manual does not talk about the M/S routing which is clearly different. For the sake of clarity here watch the video or simply use a UAD version. As you can see from the UAD Fairchild manual screenshot it does work the way I suggest.

in the new version the knobs in the AAX plugin seem to work properly. Will check the sidechain feature ASAP.

Just to chime in, I also tested the behavior reported by woodsdenis, as I had not noticed it. I find the way Presswerk handles M/S a bit strange too. To me, it would be much more intuitive that Ch1 controls mid level and Ch2 controls Side lvl once in M/S mode, i.e. that gain control would affect the signal between encoding and processing. I hope that it is the problem woodsdennis reports.

As woodsdennis notes, a possibility to saturate the compressor independently for Mid and Sides is thus missing here, on top of making the use of M/S a bit strange. And why stick to the behavior of the initial hardware or other plugs in this respect, especially when you (top-notch) guys at U-He do not see Presswerk as a hardware emulation?

Agreed , do it the best way possible, I can see no compelling argument to leave it the way that it is.

1. If copying the hardware is a reason then why not reverse the attack and decay knobs for the 1176 mockup (when it was there).

2.The fact tha both Waves and UAD do it the other way is not a reason in itself, but it actually makes more sense in every way.

3. If you feel it should be the way that it is, please give us a reason as to why the current workflow is superior. I really can't think of one.

Just download and installed for the first time - I test for a quite a few big name plugins and I feel comfortable saying you have one creamy/dreamy compressor. Although I have not had a lot of time to test as yet one item caught my eye which is visual feedback. Some plugin maker does not show a lot of GUI visual feedback information about setting, the philosophy being "Trust your ears". But I prefer a bit of control change display such as DB level changes especially if I am watching the compression output meter and dialing back makeup gain. I was wondering if when moving appropriate knobs a hidden display of the db, ms, and etc settings could be displayed on the GUI and disappear after the knob is released from the mouse.

Really loving the sound of this plugin - look out "Warmer" and so many more. Well thought out..congrats

i still have problems really knowing much about compressors but what are your experiences so far with it? i use the RCompressor from Waves cause it shows very nicely the compression, when it's added etc. and soundwise i dunno if there are differences .

^ Since this is the official u-he Presswerk thread I think talks about competing products and "which one's best" would be better in the Effects forum. But what can I say is Presswerk sounds really smooth and musical and I like the interface and what u-he as in store for the future (different views for different tasks). I'm not expert on compressors either.
