No love for MUX Modular 7 ?

I have MUX and I love it. It's a great modular. Maybe the problem is one of marketing if there's no love for it. I wouldn't know as the only way I usually hear of things is either by word of mouth or just surfing the Internet.

Pricewise MAX ($249) need to do about 4 times as many things as MUX ($65)
GUI wise can other type style interfaces than this be built in MAX?

This is no match for MUX

I'd rather think it's a combination of the rocket science GUI, the approach itself (modulars are not for everyone, the most popular synthesis stays subtractive synthesis), and lack of marketing. All in all, i can't imagine it ever leaving the "insider tip" status.wagtunes wrote:I have MUX and I love it. It's a great modular. Maybe the problem is one of marketing if there's no love for it.

Well, that's a shame because it's an excellent piece of software. You can get lost in it for days.chk071 wrote:I'd rather think it's a combination of the rocket science GUI, the approach itself (modulars are not for everyone, the most popular synthesis stays subtractive synthesis), and lack of marketing. I think you can patch modules as you want to, have a look at the guide here:kokotte wrote:in mux 6, can we plug an osc into another?

@Numanoid
Max can do much more than Mux
but Mux is very nice and high level user friendly except it is windows only
Max can handle and manipulate audio, MIDI and graphics data
Max4Live can also take control of the Live API
allowing you to set it up for live use
or whatever functions you like
you can also go down into Max and code your own objects etc. in gen/java whatever

if I'm not mistaken you can not use oscillators as mod sources.

indeed, yes. MUX is an audio plugin; MAX is a visual programming language with native audio and video processing capabilities. You could build a functional DAW in it. or a video editor, or VJ application, or a web browser, or a videogame, or an architectural visualiation environment, yada yada.dave dove wrote:Max can do much more than Mux
Set Theory claim:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate.
Red is Red and anything that is Red is an object, a class in itself or a real thing if you prefer"

Yes, unfortunately MUX doesn't allow audio outs to be used as modulationTaifunk wrote:I love mux is on my wishlistkokotte wrote:in mux 6, can we plug an osc into another?

no mac version = no love
I do love (software) modular synths, Ive got Reaktor, Oscillot (M4L), Max with Beap... and then semi modulars from u-he like Zebra/Bazille/Ace...
what would Mux add? and how does it sound?
there seems little on the website about what modules it contains, how it differs from others...
( i know it can hosts vsts and front end them, but Im not really interested in that... Id tend to use Max if I need that)
oh well, I guess when/if a mac version arrives I'll take a look then.

Perhpas semi-modular in the sense that all the modules are already in place ?

Bazille is semi modular but MAN...the sounds you can get out of that thing. The mod routings can be absolutely insane if you're so inclined.BasariStudios wrote:I thought Bazille was Modular...thetechnobear wrote:and then semi modulars from u-he like Bazille
