Okay, I downloaded the Syn'X demo. Aside from the fact that I have to read the manual to figure out how to program the sequencer, I have only one complaint and it's a deal breaker, as minute as it might seem.
For whatever reason, and maybe it's my DAW, the knobs are very fiddly. Sometimes I'm spending a good 10 to 20 seconds just trying to turn some of them. You have to grab them, it seems, at just the right spot or they don't turn.
After a while, quite honestly, this drives me up a wall.
I have had this problem with other synths that were 32 bit so I have to wonder if the 64 bit plugin that I installed is truly 64 bit. That's the only explanation I can think of.
But as frustrating as it is to turn these knobs, I'm going to wait until Syn'X 2 comes out and see if the problem is fixed.
Otherwise, an amazing sounding synth and definitely worth the 169 Euro IMO.

Thanks for the heads up, I just checked and found I had a 20% fidelity coupon, snapped up mini Syn'x for only just above £27!VariKusBrainZ wrote:Don't forget you can use your fidelity points to buy this, only cost me £28...... Nobrainer

Okay, I figured out the knob problem. You have to put your mouse pointer exactly at the spot where the white line intersects with the middle of the knob. Just a hair off and the knob doesn't turn. Now that I know that, the knobs turn fine.
I also figured out the sequencer after reading the manual.
All in all, I'm really frustrated right now. I have limited funds ($200 at the moment) and have about 3 or 4 synths that I really want to get. This is one of them along with Oxium.
Can you tell I love XILS stuff? LOL.
Now I need to go and open up my XILS 4 and lose myself in some modular madness.
I hate you people. LOL.

One can upgrade from the Mini to the full Syn'X at any time. So it might not be a bad idea to get the mini at promo price if someone want to get the Syn'X after.

Did you say there was going to be a Syn'X 2? If so, is there a time line on that?Lotuzia wrote:One can upgrade from the Mini to the full Syn'X at any time. So it might not be a bad idea to get the mini at promo price if someone want to get the Syn'X after.

As far as I can see no "downgrade" price for owners of the full Syn'X?

good point, though I'm not so sure about the price. Shouldn't it simply be included in/with the full license ? At any rate, if existing Syn'x licensees pay anything it shouldn't cost an existing owner of the full license any more to own both full + mini than it would cost someone buying the mini during the intro and upgrading to full later. imo. ymmv. bbq.paulbreeze wrote:As far as I can see no "downgrade" price for owners of the full Syn'X?

Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

If you own the full SynX you will not need the MiniSyn'X because the Syn'X 2 will be able to do all that the miniSyn'X can do.paulbreeze wrote:As far as I can see no "downgrade" price for owners of the full Syn'X?
The only difference when the Syn'X 2 is will be released will be the factory library content : The factory library of the miniSyn'X will be available as a separate soundbank for the owners of the Syn'x 2, like all soundbanks distributed by Xils-Lab.
The only other reason is if you would like, as a Syn'X 2 owner, to get the mini would be to install it on a laptop, or a computer where you dont want to have the dongle or the software dongle.

Well, as I see it, and this is only my Pov, everyone can benefit of the intro price offer for the mini, including Syn'x owners, including Syn'x owners who got it at intro price, or during promo periods. I see often written in Kvr that 50$ plugs that dont have intro price are fair ( Like Valalah, etc etc ) The mini is 49$ intro price , and for this price, with all its features, its pristine analog sound that is at least on par with any other top end VAs, and all its possibilities, I think ..... its a very good deal. Ymmv.

This is a very nice sounding synth. Great price, excellent copy protection method but........that GUI is absolutely horrid. Both in function and appearance and I'm normally a huge fan of grey interfaces because they are easy on the eyes for long periods of use. This looks like someone's first amateur Synth Edit project but the sound is professional. I do appreciate the Huge mode but it just makes the ugly bigger.
But having said that I might still pick up this synth because as we all know the sound is more important than the GUI. Still it's a shame that a synth that sounds so good looks so bad...........in my opinion of course.

I think it's an improvement on the full Synx actually, but yes there are still some flaws, particularly use of space, small knobs, text not well positioned (in some cases right next to the top of sections, not making good use of space, but this is also not consistent). I also think some of the abbreviations are unclear. All things that can be fixed though.Teksonik wrote:This is a very nice sounding synth.
