Theo: Nova is parallel only.
We released hotfix update 1.0.1 a few minutes ago. It's meant to address the ECO related issues and improve UI performance. Pls let us know if it helps!

MDynamicEQ/MAutoDynamicEQ is not a parallel EQ - it's a serial one.ckam03 wrote:But this is a normal phase eq though? Yes, it's dynamic but you don't have to use that. I use Mautodynamiceq for my normal eq duties as well as dynamic eq so I don't see how this is any different?
Both are also what you call "normal phase".
Personally I find "parallel EQ's" to be smoother on boost. I can raise the gain and it just doesn't sound harsh. But to me, this really only makes the most sense during mastering. For everything else in terms of DynamicEQ'ing and general EQing, I just use other tools as my "go to" EQs.

Let's keep NOVA as simple as possible.
(though a internal SC HPF for the wideband compressor does look like a reasonable upgrade // but even then, let's keep it simple)

Cool. Thanks for clearing that up.Compyfox wrote:MDynamicEQ/MAutoDynamicEQ is not a parallel EQ - it's a serial one.ckam03 wrote:But this is a normal phase eq though? Thanks for the plugin.
Been testing it for a while now and I'm just wondering... Compared to the original Nova, the attack knob doesn't seem to make much of a difference to the sound. I was expecting more snap and punch, but it seems like transients stay the same. With release there's a difference. I've been trying with wide band compression and individual bands as well.
Is this maybe a bug or is the compression simply very different from the original Nova? Still though, I'm used to hearing a much more obvious difference with any other compressors when turning the attack knob.
I tested with latest reaper 64 bit and Cubase 8.0.30 64bit. Both win 8.1 and win 10.
Edit: OK, after some more testing, I admit, the attack knob does something. I suppose that I was just expecting a more obvious result, after using the original Nova.
So is the attack maybe very adaptive or something, cause on single tracks it's very hard to hear a difference?

I'm still puzzled by this..
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/258 ... eforms.png
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/25840169/Nova.png
These waveforms look and sound exactly the same. Both show a snare sample being processed with Nova. The only difference between them is that in the other sample the attack is 0.1 ms and in the other 50 ms. There should be a difference in there...? Right? (The compressor is hitting hard and my daw meters show 12 db of gain reduction.)
Or am I totally incapable of using this plugin?

I would like to be the first (and probably the only one who cares) to point out the attack time has been decreased in this version from 100ms to 50ms. While I don't understand this decision, I can't say the results are bad, but isn't it just as easy to have access to faster attack times?

I never used TDR Nova but don't you have all band disabled? In that case Nova isn't doing anything at all I would think.
Edit: nope, I was wrong

Thanks for the update. In eco mode I'm still getting the following issue - the HP filter greys out the filter slope box and seems to retain whatever you set it as for precise mode. Another time I loaded the plugin it would switch back to 6dB in eco mode even if I have it at 12 or 24 in precise mode. The LP filter problem is indeed fixed. The gui problems are a little better but are still there.

Are you really sure we're talking about v1.0.1?
About the UI problems, can you give me a rough picture of your computer specs? We still have potential for improvement, but it will take some more time. We won't give up fast

Apologies - everything's working as expected. After reading your explanation of the filters - yes, all good here. Sorry for causing excessive testing on your part.FabienTDR wrote:The HP filter slope greys out? I can't reproduce it.do_androids_dream wrote:Thanks for the update. What happens (or "should" happen) is the following: In ECO mode, LP slope is limited to 6dB/oct. As soon ECO mode is selected, we disable the LP slope control and set it to 6dB/oct. In my case and after a quick test, the latest 32bit version behaves properly in Reaper, Wavelab and VST Analyser.
