Don't know why everyone says that bitwig's pdc is great. It's not compensating any mod's device modulation (Lfo mod, step mod, note mod, audio mod) for a long time, at least for me. Devs said that they know about that, but that was more than 2 months ago and it's still not fixed.

Yes gui is sompensated, which is good, but bitwig has it's own gui quirks, like when you choose a lot of clips with a lot of notes in an arrangment view, it starts lagging for some people and i'm one of them.

Both of them are not perfect, but every time i want to produce something i go to live, not to bitwig.

No, that wasn't fixed. It's even stated on their site. You can find it here (under "Does Live compensate everything"?): https://www.ableton.com/en/help/article/latency-faqs/

I was talking about Live 8 adds Output Latency along with plugin latency every time user insert VST. I'm sorry if I misunderstood what he was mentioning.

Yeah, I know graphical delay. I'm not so picky about DAWs' visual feedback as long as sound is aligned. I'm hoping 10 will overcome this

Code: Select all

In addition to this, built-in device modulation which is synced to the Live transport (i.e., synced to a specific beat-time position) is not compensated

well i tried again:
bitwig 8 track 1.3.5
crashy and laggy - audio and gui - with reaktor
not repeatable as not consistent
but happens sooner or later
and i haven't got as far as resting it with other stuff...
Live 9.5
not crashy
not laggy
why would i buy bitwig?

Just grabbed a Push 2 as well. Brilliant workflow with Ableton. I'll still probably bounce down / ReWire for recording vocals, guitar, etc. into Studio One, but this is fantastic for getting ideas going.

tooneba, i believe if the order is changed or if one uses groups there are ways to overcome the lfo type plugin pdc?
When I tried to use each parent tracks for each instruments timing was much better and totally different result from Group or Rack. I didn't try changing order.

arrangement GUI is so niiice in it (group clips/instruments/fx/midi/sample tracks can be displayed independently from each other so quite usable too)

(full screen 1080p)

check the look of AL after it :clown:

I actually think Ableton's GUI is more refined and polished, though Bitwig's isn't bad either. GUI look and feel is very subjective though so isn't keeping with the original intention of this thread that I started.

BWS all the groups/instruments/fxs/send fxs/MIDIs etc. have independent toggleable displaying logic (groups in groups is missing from AL which can displays only one level of groups/instrument layers without the sends(ok racks are much more better/advanced ones it))

so if an fx layer is dropped into an instrument layer than it will be displayed as whole new unit/column in both devices and mixer views in Bitiwg (which quite nice and better concept than the AL one ... IMO :) ) which mean it displays the parallel fx chains also quite nicely (all the instruments in parallel layers and their fx units in parallel fx chains are reachable from the mixer) + u can drop a unified modulation layer(lfos etc.) on the top of the whole structure

Bitwig has exposed Ableton as a company that is resting on it's laurels, and is stifling Live's advancement and development. I can't imagine why though. Bitwig has so many cool features that Live should have had already.
