Open Reaper's Media Explorer. There you can preview media files.Karl the Hermit wrote:And another thing I noticed was that I had to preview wav files with my WMP and not in-program.

You actually understand what the other people here talking about?Numanoid wrote:It would be difficult to live off $20K a year, so in other words it is a no-pro licenseghettosynth wrote:Correct, so it's not a $60 DAW for people making at least $20k from their activity with the DAW.
Would be interesting to know how many KVR Reaper users have had to pay $225 for Reaper.
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

Tracktion doesn't have a manual. I believe the idea is to just have mouse-over tool tips (F11 to toggle) to help you learn the interface. What you're referring to is a project done by a third party.Karl the Hermit wrote:Either or, the whole "pay for the manual" thing sucks! I haven't touched a DAW in over 10 years and I've never heard of such a thing!
Surely there must be consensus by now...

Your snap judgement may not be accurate. As one who recommended MuLab to you, I suggest you spend as much time with MuLab as with the other DAWs. The MuTools site has full project demos that you can explore, and videos that demonstrate its depth and flexibility:Karl the Hermit wrote:Mutools - Opened it up and immediately felt like I'd gone from Lego's to blocks! The Reatraction config/gui-set makes reaper a lot more user-friendly particularly for beginners. I did make it however, so I'm biased:

Tracktion all the way for ease of use and workflow, reaper all the way for rock-solid stability. Haven't tried v7.

Except for bugs or lack of being able to use feature "a", what are we arguing about here?
I mean really, unless something doesn't work "as advertised" , who cares if someone does/doesn't like something?

I've been using Reaper for awhile now, and (not being a super power user, just some guy trying to make songs) this looks awesome. Have you had any problems yet with Reaper 5 or the newest versions of ReaMenus and SWS?metamorphosis wrote:The Reatraction config/gui-set makes reaper a lot more user-friendly particularly for beginners. This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here?

Ok, I gotta apologize for being so rash concerning my rather crappy assessment of MuLab. In my defense, it was the 3rd Host I opened after being somewhat frustrated by the other 2... oh, and it was 3 AM, which is actually my bedtime.mutools wrote:Pls elaborate a bit more on this. Are you sure you were not mislead by the 'simple' UI of MuLab, which is intended. MuLab has serious depth, hope you saw all that. I will check it out again and give a more informed opinion in the future... again, very sorry to be so out-of-hand dismissive of MuLab.

Thx Karl, i appreciate giving MuLab the deeper look it deserves. If you would have questions, let me know. No prob if if turns out that MuLab would not be "your cup of tea", it's good that there is a lot choice.

MuLab is indeed powerful, it is not for me however, i spend a lot of time in front of my DAW and the half vector half bitmap look that MuLab currently has is very off putting, that combined with a few other things that feel slightly bolted on had me running for the exit button.mutools wrote:Thx Karl, i appreciate giving MuLab the deeper look it deserves. I should try it again at some point, but i really think the whole UX in MuLab needs an overhaul
Now if MUX supported OSX it might be a useful package, if it did that and exported as VST, damn that thing would be the most interesting package around right now.
There just always seems to be one step away from usefulness at MuTools (Again just my own personal opinion)

I haven't updated my MuLab license because of this as well.pdxindy wrote:+1bungle wrote:Now if MUX supported OSX
Incomplete OSX support means I'm not even gonna look at it as a possible purchase.
I can't really bring myself to support a developer that doesn't support my platform.
