Why not pick up Reaper for $60.00 and rewire it into MuLab?

It's still a tedious workaround and one that cost 60 bucks, second, why would I buy a DAW that cost 70 bucks, just to buy another that cost 60 bucks instead of just using one I got that actually does all that, seems unreasonable really, there shouldn't be tedious workarounds for basic features like this, period.mgiambro wrote:Why not pick up Reaper for $60.00 and rewire it into MuLab?

I agree that rewire is tedious. However, for $130.00 you get an awful lot .. The usability of MuLab + the audio capabilities of Reaper. If you find a daw for $70.00 that gives you anything close, let me know! To put it in perspective, Ableton Suite costs around $670.00 and a lot of people who use that still end up using a 2nd daw to compensate for areas where Ableton is weak.Zexila wrote:It's still a tedious workaround and one that cost 60 bucks, second, why would I buy a DAW that cost 70 bucks, just to buy another that cost 60 bucks instead of just using one I got that actually does all that, seems unreasonable really, there shouldn't be tedious workarounds for basic features like this, period.mgiambro wrote:Why not pick up Reaper for $60.00 and rewire it into MuLab?

I got plenty without spending a buck, Logic Pro 9.mgiambro wrote:I agree that rewire is tedious. However, for $130.00 you get an awful lot ..
Exactly, Logic is all that. The usability of MuLab + the audio capabilities of Reaper.
You can pickup Logic 9 Express for 40 bucks on eBay and there's free Tracktion 5 that offers enough bangs for no bucks. If you find a daw for $70.00 that gives you anything close, let me know!
That's why I need just one DAW and capable one, that makes plenty of them non-appealing somehow, that's where the true colors are showing, when you want to use just one for everything. To put it in perspective, Ableton Suite costs around $670.00 and a lot of people who use that still end up using a 2nd daw to compensate for areas where Ableton is weak.
Can't argue overall, you get plenty with MuLab+Reaper, but it's too much on the paper, what you really get is tedious workflow and more time wasted, you know the old one about time and money, so the tool that can let me do what I want fast and efficient is the one I want, wouldn't mind spending extra, it pays off on the long run big time, Logic was best decision and still I can't find better DAW for myself.
Just came back from a meeting and brainstorming with some guys, seems like we are on with some projects, being playing with them before and in MuLab, actually, I hooked them up with it too, after some time they got serious and want to pursue it.
All the ideas they have and everything is done in it, but they will not use it anymore, because it lacks some things that will make their work easier, like proper drag&drop drum machine where you can even load sliced beat immediately and actual time stretching, but instead after demo-ing other suspects, they will now probably switch to Bitwig, because it does all this things they need with ease, fits their workflow nicely, they spent so much time with MuLab and now when they finally need to actually work seriously, they are switching to more suiting one instead, yeah, it's hard to revert to not knowing that there's other DAW's that actually make same things easier.
Plenty of folks don't like jumping on too many hoops, they want to make the music as easier as possible, to unleash what they got deep inside of them without the DAW making the obstacles, which is the point of MuLab, but not on long run, on long run it starts slowing down the process and than complicated Logic starts running circles around it, because it's actually so proficient in many other things, it get's the job done faster, even if the start is slower, it finishes before.
So personally, I really dig MuLab, Jo and the guys around here and will keeping an eye on MuLab all the time, when it becomes something close to Logic 9, I will switch to it and never see OS X again in my life, tried Reaper and usual suspects, now I'm again demoing Bitwig, even have Tracktion 6 license collecting virtual dust on my account, but MuLab is something I see myself using the most, just missing few things here&there, that can actually take long time to get on top of the list and implemented, but hey.

I hope it will become a lot better
Seriously,Occasionally I have to work with other daw but at home on my pc Mulab is my choice,
the only daw, trashed everything else and never look back ,I'm really happy about that.
I hope that soon you will do the same thing;)

It will for sure, but it needs to get some basics down first and than grow further, that's how things is supposed to be, same happened with Bitwig, now they are addressing some stuff and it's maturing nicely, still, not quite there IMHO, but hey, it's hard to satisfy everyone.Taifunk wrote:I do not want Mulab becomes something close to Logic 9![]()

Wished so many times to do that, but as soon as I start something, frustration get's in the way, I'm really trying my best to cut him some slacks, but feel it's not there for me yet, audio is still big part of my workflow and got used to some things enough to not have them taken away from me in this day and age.Seriously,Occasionally I have to work with other daw but at home on my pc Mulab is my choice, the only daw, trashed everything else and never look back ,I'm really happy about that.

True, for example I'm more focused on the synthesis and I would love to have an endless amount of new modulesZexila wrote:but hey, it's hard to satisfy everyone.
and my FR list would be truly absurd
I understand and I'm sure Jo continue to improve and get better and better Mulab, stay tunedZexila wrote:Wished so many times to do that, but as soon as I start something, frustration get's in the way, I'm really trying my best to cut him some slacks, but feel it's not there for me yet, audio is still big part of my workflow and got used to some things enough to not have them taken away from me in this day and age.

Like probably majority of others that use MuLab, so further development should really be focused on that side.Taifunk wrote:True, for example I'm more focused on the synthesis and I would love to have an endless amount of new modules![]()

For sure, imagine how awesome MuLab would be by now if he had more resources to tackle his huge FR list.I understand and I'm sure Jo continue to improve and get better and better Mulab, stay tuned

all mulab needs is ergonomics / workflow / UI / feng shui adjustments. it doesnt need time stretching, mulab is not a clip launcher. i think its time wasted. its a luxury item. stop using audio loops in mulab? write music? loops are loops, music takes a lot more effort than dropping a loop in. there are many 3rd party time stretching utilities available. this will work, just stretch to time and insert to composition. voila
