I thought that "turbo" is reserved for emulations?vectorwarrior wrote:MTurboFilter is really MWobbler.
Anyway, despite the name MWobbler it seems to be the filter plugin of Melda.
Let's rename MFilter to MSuperEqualizer and MWobbler to MWonderFilter

MCharacter should be named something like MHarmonizer (or MHarmonics) - When I see it in my plugin list I keep on mixing it up with MAmp and MTurboComp as a plugin for adding analogue character

I think there is beta version on the site?pumafred wrote:Is it already available??jmg8 wrote:Not just emulations, take a look at MTurboReverb.
BTW it sounds AMAZING!
If not, sorry, but it shouldn't be too long. You will love it!

Wouldn't use the "turbo brand" then if it were my plugin.jmg8 wrote:Not just emulations, take a look at MTurboReverb.I thought that "turbo" is reserved for emulations?
The first two "turbo" plugins were emulations, so I think that I'm not the only one who expects any other "turbo" to be an emulation.

Good point. But it was never just going to be emulations. In fact the first turbo plugin wasn't. But that has not been released to the public yet, it is still being worked on.
You will get used to it as they start being released.
Turbo really means Melda on steroids.

It all smells a bit fishy to me.
Oh wait, that must be MTurboTurbot

Does it? Or is it meant as way of making things easier for people less inclined to tweak by providing preset "types" of compressors, eqs, whatever?jmg8 wrote:Turbo really means Melda on steroids.

Yes that's what I think as well. Until now the Turbo seems to stand for "shortcut", "easy to setup", or even "modeled after real gear" and "limited parameter set".
However that may change when MTurboReverb comes out...

I agree, calling it Turbo reverb makes the use of the word Turbo inconsistent in melda products.
I would rather a different term be used that describes the depth and power it contains. We already have power synth, why not power reverb?
Potentially there could be two lines of products:
Turbo - for fast results and quick access to emulations
Power - for ultimate control and extensive options/controls

From the plugin descriptions:
"MTurboComp is the ultimate (not-only) compressor, which emulates most of the classic vintage analogue compressors."
"MTurboEQ is a unique vintage-style equalizer inspired by most of the well-known classic hardware. It's not one of them, it's all of them! For quick and easy equalization with pristine results."
However, MTurbo also says "And you can design your own super-compressors with it!" But this gets back to the complexity that Turbo offered to avoid.

I believe Turbo refers to the power of the plugins not the analog nature or ease of use. MTurbocompressor has active presets based on vintage models, but you can actually make your own compressors if you want, so it's not really fair to say it's a vintage simulation when it can do much more. Even MTurbo EQ has more features than the things it emulates(adjustable saturation, LP &HP filters, etc).
In the future I imagine most of the Melda plugins will have easy screens, but first V11 needs to be released. Afterwards all the Melda plugins should be easier to use.
