It has only happened in my tests with Waveform 8.1.2 64-bit. It does not happen every time, so it's a bit random, but usually happens early, if at all.

I do not experience any high CPU or other performance issues on Windows, using Collective in any DAW. I have plenty of RAM and CPU cycles to spare. My FireWire audio interface is running at 44100hz with audio buffer size of 256 samples (5.8ms). Plus my system easily passes the LatencyMon test for DPC Latency for real-time audio. http://www.resplendence.com/latencymon

I will try the Waveform 8.1.12-beta to see if Collective still drops out in that version.
Just tested the Waveform 8.1.12-beta, and got another Collective silence error. Same as before with my two track test project, both tracks went silent when the first track dropped out. The second track still showed active audio meters, both in the plugin header, as well as the mixer output. But no sound until I disabled the Effect 4 "Reverb Natural" on the plugin in track #1. Then both tracks start playing audio again!

Thanks for the video. Where is the hissing sound coming from? That would be useful to know to determine what track it's coming from.

Would it be possible to upload that ".tracktionedit" file here so I can run the same test? Cheers, Dave
Have you test the song and you can hear problems too with a screen recorder ?. If you not get the Problems what CPU type you have ?. maybe you can upload the video so can see that there are really win PC out on that it work ok. :)

May have spoken too soon. Just had one track drop. But I did just upgrade to BETA 8.1.14, so maybe a regression?

In fact, it wouldn't even play until I disabled the internal Effect 4 in that preset.

But I have been opening and playing projects for the past hour without any dropouts until now. Some with multiple instances of Collective. So maybe it is not happening as frequently for me, but it appears to still be a latent, intermittent problem.

now i have tested the same project with all 7 Collective tracks with Zynewave Podium 3.2.7 beta 2 and it works!

i think the main problem is not Collective synth itself, it seems to be more a Waveform Collective synth init problem and this could only fixed together!

That's kind of where my thinking was leading me ...

Hi there,

sorry that I am so unresponsive on this thread. To recap:
- We don't think that Collective has a memory issue on 64 bit. Heaven knows how Windows manages memory but, as far as we can see, everything on Collective's side is fine.
- I have let the track from magicmusic run for more than 2 hours without problems. And that's the old problem: I can't reproduce the silence bug on my machine. But:
- We think that the problem lies in one of the sound generating modules, may it the filter, the drive or one of the effect types, who knows.

Therefore, may I again ask you if someone of you could do the tedious task to make a track that shows the erroneous behaviour, load that track again and switch off *one* of the sound generating modules, check if Collective still goes silent and if so, repeat this procedure switching off more and more modules until the problem doesn't occur anymore? That would really, really help.

Thank you all in advance,

Wolfram

hi Wolfram,

it's realy easy to reproduce this silence bug.
the only thing you have to do is to download your favorite MIDI song and import to your project and assign collective instrumens to each track and you'll hear maybe one instrument playing, all the others plays silent. but i'm wondering, because i have this already reported ...

Hermu,

it does *not* happen on my machine and on *any* machine Tracktion has at their disposal. So, please, if you have the time, perform the "module-switch-off" procedure, please.

Well for me it was simple. When track 1 goes silent in my test project, switch off Effect 4. Sound again! Switch effect 4 back on, silent immediately. This was while using factory preset "Mouse Chords JH", the Effect 4 was "Reverb Natural".

This did not happen on every run of the project, but when it does happen the effect is as I just described. Immediate and verifiable.

But to be fair, I cannot reproduce this now with the latest Beta version of Waveform & Collective.

sorry, but your response is not really helpfull, because i can reproduce this problem every time i try and i have tested on 4 different computers with all supportet OS!

you have this really tested with Waveform 8.1.14 and Collective 1.0.8?

you maybe right it works with all other DAWs but not with Waveform 8.

and what you mean with perform the "module-switch-off" procedure ??
