Dude, I love the Goodhertz Tilt EQ. I use it all the time on drum tops, it’s super easy to use and sounds fantastic. I wish their tone control plugin were as easy to use, it takes a tiny bit of thought to use each time I throw it on.MogwaiBoy wrote:a fully linear tilt mode (like Goodhertz)
is Fabfilter Pro Q2 the best EQ?

Could you please explain to me how a filter can be transparent and analogue at the same time? And what exactly transparent and analogue means? What makes a filter analogue, what makes a filter transparent? Other than the buzzwords of a marketing campaign?jamleethorpe wrote:EQual is the only eq Ive come across as truly transparent and you get a bunch of musical analogue filters

It mostly comes down to phase: the phase shifts that happen with a filter applied to audio. generally speaking "transparent" usually means that the affected sound doesn't have any noticable variation other than the filters that were applied and that the filtering is done in a way which maintains the vibe of the source audio.Rockatansky wrote:Could you please explain to me how a filter can be transparent and analogue at the same time? An "analogue" EQ usually means that the filter characteristcs are not "pefect" and will impart some amount of phase shifts. This makes the EQ "not transparent". Someone who says an EQ is "analogue" and "transparent" is using their own versions of these terms, which they can do because there are no rules.

Unfortunetely Pro Q2 Fabfilter destroyed all the atmosphere of some High-End-Songs
I made with Hardware components (Sampler)! I never used Fabfilter again. I was very
disapointed how this could be possible. The best EQ is from Sonnox or Flux Epure IMO

Professional technicians are assessed by the abilities they possess.
Amateur technicians are assessed by the tools they possess - and the amount of those tools, with an obvious preference to the latest hyped ones.

6 months ago for 3 weeks I tested all available ITB EQs for Acoustic Nylonguitar and Acoustic Steelstringguitar and the winner was:
The Massenburg MDW Parametric EQ had the best highend, all the others sounded harsh in direct comparison.
May`be it has to do with the upsampling inside the UAD system, I don`t know.
If you are doing EDM Fabfilter Pro Q2 or Equilibrium or Eiosis Air probably will be perfect.
If you mix acoustic instruments to my ears there is no match for the Massenburg EQ.

Maybe I’m missing something, but what’s the difference between spectrum grab and simply just viewing peaks and creating a node or sweeping there on any parameteic EQ that has an analyzer?

How is it faster workflow if you're viewing the spectrum and just place a node on a peak compared to viewing the spectrum and placing a node on a peak?

Did you actually try the spectrum grab feature? It definitely saves a couple of mouse clicks. At least for me.
