Just watched a side by side comparison of Live vs Bitwig. Biggest loss seems to be converting stuff to midi parts which is supposed to be easy in Live. Since I have Melodyne though, that won't matter much if at all though I guess. Unless there's some Max 4 Live device I can't live without. Something for recording timecode scratches(which I mess with sometimes in Mixxx) would be cool and I would expect Live to be the more likely candidate as it's the DAW of choice for DJs.
I'll demo both, Studio One and possibly FL Studio before the black Friday/holiday sales. I'm due to change over by this time next year at the latest I think. Reaper seems like something worth sticking with as a mixing option. It sucks at midi, compared to most daws today, but is still fantastic for audio and mixing tasks.

Already had Live 10 Suite, but did the final power up and got the crossgrade to full Max 8 from the parallel sale on Cycling74'.

And save them to Collections in the browser (easily assign to Collections via the top number keys, 1-7). This is great for saving not just frequently used tracks, but groups and their routings if you use something like Kontakt, with instruments pre-routed to separate tracks.

I don't know if this still works, but the workaround for that used to be putting shortcuts to your other plugin folders inside the folder Live scans.

These days, I'm only using Live on my laptop, which only has a limited number of plugins installed to one folder.

I'm not at home right now but I'm wondering if I just add external instrument tracks to control Quantum and Tanzbar 2 from within Push2?
Is there a midi CC plugin available in Max? I 'd like to control all available hardware knobs from Push 2

Thanks

There's a lot more than that.

Live does ReWire, they even expanded it to work when Live is slaved to a host like Reaper etc. Bitwig does not do Rewire at all.

Bitwig does MPE, sandboxed VSTs, and has an arguably more flexible native LFO setup than Live's M4L LFO you won't get with Standard.

There are other things but those ones are big to me anyway.

A friendly tip, if this is your first experience with Push...

Something that helped me when learning to play the push is to keep in mind that in chromatic mode it's just like a guitar. If you keep it in C major chromatic you can go straight up a row of lit, "in key" squares and have almost the same layout as strumming open guitar strings. Only difference is that since the interval between G and B is 4 semitones, you go up one row and left one pad from G to get to B and E.

Hi Razzia,

No mate I had Push 1 but not for long so as I'm new to Push 2 any friendly tips are most welcome. That's a good tip and I'm noting it all here to try out.
