One thing that people arent talking about is that this can act as a secondary to your laptop. Why not have the box runing next to your laptop and have a ton more fx and intruments on hand with no cpu load on your computer...or just use it to free up your computers cpu?

Also no piece of music hardware is "crash proof" some crashes more than others but thats about it...I have had hardware synths crash on me before...its nothing new...but its definatly not going to be as bad as windows!

People also dont seem to be thinking that the price includes three things...the hardware, the included VSTs, and the hosting software. All of which add up.

Now Im not saying that you cant do almost the same thing with a laptop...but some of us dont need a laptop or a software sequencer...and would like to stick to something as stable as we can...so this looks like a great thing. However if your on a tight budget and already own a nice host program, just do home studio work, etc than this box isnt intended for you from what I can tell...stick to your windows boxes and be happy :)

Yeah... it's fine, you want a great PC... but I don't care that you will stick on, seriously.

You guys are so dumb to compare thing are NOT comparable.

I can do nothing for you, if you don't understand Receptor, you will perhaps in the future.... when your species will grown-up to the maturity.

I don't spend all my time to try to explain you the Receptor.

So, Now if you want more informations, move your ass and find by yourself.

Bye bye guys

So I guess that means that you aren't a part of the Official Muse PR team, eh?
He's just their number 1 fanboy.

Or something....

Linux.

So the os is not part of the cost! It would cost less than £200 to build a better system. Use Linux and a kbd and monitor splitter (cheap) with some pc sharing software and bingo!

Now, if it were guaranteed crashproof......all it has to do is crash once during a performance and you will be stamping on it or demanding you're money back. I can also see some problems under the the UK's Sale of Goods Act. Am I buying hardware or software, do I have to agree to a license etc.
I wonder if anybody at Muse actually did any research at all.

fake

BTW I use windows 98se. It takes 3 seconds to boot!
You cant beat people up then have them say "I love you"

Eh?
Might I suggest a light coating of vegtable oil if you are stick on? Reduces friction too! :hihi:

I think most people miss that this is not JUST a pc. Has audio interfacing (decent options), hookup to your DAW... built in interface (very nice one I think).

Im not wanting to defend it, since I have some serious issues with it... i.e. it comes iwth 400$ if plugins I dont want. And just happens to be 400$ more than I want to spend on it.

Oh well. When it's down to 1K, Ill buy it, stick rhino 2, mda's and my favorite fx and be happy. Or toss it in a rack as a guitar preamp with greenmachine and some fx... bring into a strong poweramp, out to a 412 and have the most advanced guitar amp of anyone on the block.

Also, you had a good point Sickle about the "is it crash proof" question. One of the things I heard about the Receptor is that because it's OS is not Windows if it did crash it reboots in seconds instead of minutes.
Embedded Linux perhaps?

There is ADAT for more of 2 I/O. You can see it on the pdf manual.

But it requiert a software update, not available for the moment.

Receptor CPU must to be AMD Athlon XP2800+, but this info isn't sure for the moment.

and yes db, I'm a fanboy, you can say that :) :D
that's right

SpIdErWeB wrote:Yes, it is SynthEdit compatible ;)

In exemple, there is Microsynth from EVM Synthpack installed on Receptor :

And EVM Syntpack is a SynthEdit plug-ins pack :)

Nice, isn't it ?

So the big takeaway for me here is the EVM Synthpack...I hadn't heard these before, and while not all of them have MP3 demos, what I did hear was pretty good - any comments/experience on EVM?

I dont think so.... Ive already met a few (4) developers not happy with muse at all...

You know of course that you can setup your own linux box that boots in seconds, auto starts the sequencer etc... and hosts vsts easily... *cough*
Just curious: would that be using Wine to emulate windows? I heard that a Linux sequencer named Muse
runs VST's, not sure how.

Say what? I may be mistaking you, but did you just suggest you want a Muse because EVM's stuff is on it?

That's like a $30 to $50 SE plug pack, man..I own the EVM stuff & they're all great & all, but that's hardly a selling point for this thing, is it?

Rob, same here, it's going in the guitar rack if it's going anwhere..since we live on two different blocks it's a beautiful thing as I'd have to take you out :D

The linux Muse host is the same thing I beleive.

Im really wondering how they dealt with all the licenses that potential could be broken right now. Im not very good with license stuff, but it sure as hell seems like a few are broken.

[Out of subject]

EVM Synthpack, is a pack for 30€ (~ $36) for 15 VSTi.

It's a very cheap pack, but very interesting.

You're right, there isn't many mp3 demo... :(

I try them, and almost all presets... there are some good, ... and of course another not good.

But I think the most important must to enter to the programmation of sound ... I don't have enough time to try for the moment.

This pack enjoy me, because it is not succesfull and because it's almost free (arround $2 by VSTi) :)

There are some good plug I love like Moebius, RMX-04, Incubus and Prolog-R.

I can detail all the pack because 15 VSTi is too long to explain in detail, but it's a good investment :)
